May 2 South Africa (Fairview) form analysis

Race 1 (1,400m) (1) LA VIDA LOCA has been holding her form well in Kwa-Zulu-Natal and that form should be good enough to score on local debut. (6) STAR OF ELENA was not disgraced on her debut and should fight out the finish. (4) CLEVER CANDY makes her local debut and has not run too badly in the Western Cape. She would not be a surprise winner. (2) RUBY CLAIRE was too far back last time and is battling to win. Race 2 (1,900m) (7) DUTCHESS D'ORANGE has run well in both her starts on the turf since changing trainers and could beat these rivals trying the Polytrack. (3) HAT MONTERA has not been beaten too far in her recent starts and can contest the finish again. (1) GENTEEL has not been reliable but she is capable of getting involved in the finish once again. (2) OH MANDY could like this longer distance and deserves respect. Race 3 (1,600m) (1) HOLOCENE has had some bad draws of late and is not well drawn again but should make a bold bid if he shows his best under jockey Richard Fourie. (4) KOHANA is improving and was an easy maiden winner last time. (6) HOSPICES DE BEAUNE picked up a maiden win last time in his first taste of the Polytrack. (7) GOLD GUNNER ran well last week in a race that had to be abandoned and could be a threat. Race 4 (1,200m) Trainer Alan Greeff looks to have a decent hand in this race. (2) TRAVEL MASTER has good form around this course and distance and can go close to winning. (6) SWISS WALT is not reliable but was a good winner last week and can follow up. (8) RESURGENCE holds a winning chance. (4) SOUND OF THE SEA could show vast improvement trying the Polytrack and is another to include in all bets. Race 5 (1,200m) (4) USA'S HOPE got caught too far back last time. His rider will be more aware of his ability this time round and he can make amends. (1) MERCANTOUR has run well in both his local starts and should be a real threat to these rivals. (2) FIRST ORIGIN is a very speedy sort and should try to make all but his rivals will be aware of that danger. (3) CLIFF TOP has not been at his very best for some time now but is capable of getting involved in the finish. Race 6 (1,400m) (5) GOLDEN GREY is clearly a hard horse to win with, but he has been runner-up in two of his last three starts and could like his first try on the Polytrack. (1) ALWAYS SHINING likes this surface and was touched off on the grass last time, so should be a threat. (2) LIGHTNINGFORK is in decent form and can be followed. (3) GARDEN SUN has drawn wide, but must be included in calculations going on his last-start third. Race 7 (1,400m) A race to go wide in all exotics. (8) PASHTUNWALI is not well drawn but is suited to this course and distance and could pop up and score. (7) JAMBO SANA loves this course and distance and is another to consider. (1) CHARLIE MALONE has been unreliable of late but is capable of contesting the finish. (5) GUARDING THE WALL should be included in all bets. Race 8 (1,400m) A tough last handicap. (7) ICE CAP is knocking hard and is well drawn but is coming back from a break and does tend to get out of her ground early on. (8) LITTLE LEXI has a terrible draw but won on local debut and could have more to offer on this surface. (9) KOMESANS PASSION and (4) BLUE PALACE are both capable of staking a claim going on their recent performances.
