Two PGT Custom Windows and Doors products named on DWM's annual Readers' Choice Awards
NORTH VENICE, Fla., February 13, 2025--(BUSINESS WIRE)--PGT Custom Windows and Doors, America's authority in high-performance windows and doors, is excited to share that it was recognized twice on Door and Window Market Magazine's annual Readers' Choice Awards for its WinGuard Vinyl Preferred line and the WinGuard Preferred View Sliding Glass Door. According to DWM, each year, the staff gathers information on the industry's best products to share with its audience. In December, the publication then asks readers to wrap up the year by participating in a Readers' Choice Survey, selecting the products they see as most significant to the industry. In 2024, DWM's annual awards featured 30 categories — nine more than the previous year. In the Energy Star Rated-Door and Window Series and Systems category, PGT's WinGuard Vinyl line was named. These versatile, stylish products add an extra layer of protection and comfort to a home's interior. Additionally, the impact-resistant glass is high-performance Low-E and has a multi-chamber frame that provides energy savings that can lower energy bills. With over 7,200 glazing and frame options available, they are designed to complement any home style seamlessly. In the Doors — Folding, Sliding and Patio category, PGT's WinGuard Preferred View Sliding Glass Door was specifically selected by the readers. The glass door's narrow panel profiles — measuring just 2 1/2 inches wide — allow for more glass and less frame in each panel, creating expansive sightlines that invite natural light while providing an extra layer of protection. Up to eight glass door panels move horizontally along tracks, with expansions of up to 40 feet for uninterrupted views and blending indoor and outdoor spaces. Readers reported the product as sleek and innovative. "We are honored to have two of our products recognized in DWM's annual Readers' Choice Awards," said Bob Keller, MITER Brands' Senior Vice President of Research and Development. Atlanta woman receives $20,000 water bill despite reporting leak for months
A Northwest Atlanta woman said she opened up her January water bill and saw a balance of $20,545.27 due. 'It's crazy. I don't even know,' Elisabeth Porter said. She said she's been waiting for the City of Atlanta Department of Watershed Management (DWM) to repair a leaking water line outside her home for months. [DOWNLOAD: Free WSB-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] 'I've been calling them, calling them, filling out documents online for the last three months,' Porter said. She said a constant stream of water and mud flowing outside her house has made it harder for her to move around in her wheelchair. Now, she's concerned the water bill could impact her finances. 'I'm extremely aggravated,' Porter said. Channel 2′s Courtney Francisco asked the DWM to look into her case Monday night. That's when a spokesperson said an inspector started investigating and discovered an outlet leak in the meter box. Porter said by Tuesday evening, a repair crew was outside her home working on the leak. By Wednesday morning, the leak was fixed. 'It took you coming out and trying to get something going,' Porter told Francisco. A statement from DWM said records show the leak was reported on Dec. 2 and repair time was '…within the service level agreement timeframe.' DWM said it is reviewing the water bill for adjustment consideration. By the time DWM sent that response on Wednesday, muddy water was flowing out of the meter box again. A spokesperson said inspectors will return to make any necessary repairs.
