Sydney Sweeney spotted on Devil Wears Prada 2 sets — but fans are dead set against it

Either the Devil Wears Prada sequel is going to be perfect or it's going to be so far gone that it may eat into the OG's picture perfect legacy. Fans aren't feeling too hot about Sydney Sweeney reportedly being in Devil Wears Prada 2(Photos: X) No one's really complaining about having near-constant access to what is going on at the DWP2 sets but you can't help but wish that the overload of visuals and information flooding the internet, up for a bit. Take the latest snippet for instance. Sydney Sweeney was seen exiting a production trailer shortly after Emily Blunt, the latter definitively being in the midst of filming the sequel. Add to this the fact that Sydney made it a point to hide her face with her umbrella and keep a low profile as she exited has everyone convinced (and probably rightly so) that she's definitely in the film. Now we don't know if this will be a full-fledged role or even a cameo (could she be playing herself?), but fans aren't feeling too hot about it. As a matter of fact, the patent reactions appear to be various dramatic versions of 'NO'. Comments like "no no please this is most definitely not ur movie girl", "Immediately no.", "Y'all really ruining this film. 😞", "NOOOOOOOO NOT HER💔", "Please edit her out!!", "Not too late to recast" and "Why's Sydney Sweeney got to ruin everything omg🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️" capture the vibe. Her soap stint followed by the endless debate over the very controversial American Eagle ad, there are multiple reasons why Sydney seems to be losing out on the tall regards she had gained from her Euphoria audience. But sometimes you can't help but wonder if the endless hate being directed at her is because she's a woman succeeding on all counts. Coming back to the film already flooding our Instagram feeds, Devil Wears Prada 2 is eyeing a May Day release next year with Miranda Priestly, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci returning to reprise their roles. Lucy Liu, Justin Theroux, BJ Novak and Pauline Chalamet have been roped in for undisclosed supporting stints with Kenneth Branagh and Patrick Bremmall having been brought on board to play love interests to Miranda Priestly and Andy Sachs respectively.

Devil Wears Prada fans ‘crashing out' over Anne Hathaway in first look at sequel

Andy Sachs is dusting off her Chanel boots as we speak – as Anne Hathaway has confirmed The Devil Wears Prada 2 is officially in production. The 2006 classic, based on Lauren Weisberger's best-selling novel, followed Andy rollercoaster journey into establishing herself as a fashion journalist at Runway Magazine. The 42-year-old has been active on her social media pages this week, all leading up to her first day on set. Hathaway first shared a TikTok on Monday, showing her brushing her teeth with the caption, 'heading to werk', followed by the hashtag 'DWP2'. The new video comes just weeks after Disney confirmed The Devil Wears Prada 2 is officially in development. Fans were quick to spot the first Easter egg – Andy's iconic 'cerulean sweater'. @annehathaway Heading to werk #dwp2 ♬ original sound – Anne Hathaway In the first film, personal assistant Andy is corrected by boss Miranda (Meryl Streep) after thinking her knit was merely turquoise. One fan, @jeancervan, was quick to recite Miranda's iconic quote, 'that lumpy blue sweater, for instance, because you're trying to tell the world that you take yourself too seriously to care about what you put on your back.' 'But what you don't know is that that sweater is not just blue, it's not turquoise, it's not lapis, it's actually cerulean.' DWP fans were ecstatic to see Hathaway getting ready to shoot the muchly anticipated sequel, with @linamoreno saying – 'Anne Hathaway just casually brushing her teeth before filming one of the most iconic movies to ever exist, I'm not freaking out over here or anything.' Later on in the day, the Princess Diaries star shared on-set snaps on her Instagram, giving her followers a sneak peek at her iconic character's refreshed wardrobe. Posing in a pinstripe black vest with co-ordinating trousers, Hathaway captioned the pic ' #dwp2.' The award-winning actress' Instagram followers went into a frenzy after hearing the news they had waited years for. 'CRASHING OUTTTTT' said @Jennaaaliyah, 'EVERYBODY STAY CALLLMMMMMM,' @carmenvalentina added. Another fan, @designsuperhero, said: 'I have never been more excited for a movie than I am now.' Hathaway's style has previously been heavily inspired by her infamous Devil Wears Prada character, with the actress only recently sporting a 'cerulean' blue Versace gown during the 2024 Screen Actors Guild Awards. The 'cerulean' dress was not the only legendary moment to happen at the SAG Awards last year, as Hathaway surprised the audience by reuniting with her co-stars. Streep had taken to the stage to present the award for best male actor in a comedy series, however, she opened with: 'I have forgotten two things: my glasses and the envelope,' to which her on-screen co-workers Emily Blunt and Hathaway made their way on to the stage to present Streep's missing items – as the audience went wild at the tease of the reunion. It was announced last year that fans would be able to see Miranda Priestley on our screens again, but Hathaway has now confirmed the sequel of all sequels is well under way. Streep's character was inspired by Vogue's Anna Wintour, as DWP writer Weisberger worked as her personal assistant back in the day. Wintour recently stepped down from Vogue after 37 years at the publication. More Trending Charlie's Angels star Lucy Liu, 55, is among the rumoured new cast members in the reboot, along with BJ Novak, Justin Theroux and Bridgerton's Simone Ashley. The original movie was a box office hit, raking in $326 million (£241 million) – it also enabled Streep to receive a SAG Award nomination for best actress. Despite not having a release date yet, fans are able to re-live the dramatic comedy through the West End production of the classic. The Devil Wears Prada stage production arrived at the Dominion Theatre late last year and will run until January 2026. Got a story?
