DORAL, Fla. - A group of four suspects recently stole more than 200 pounds of mail and then used the stolen credit cards to go on a mall shopping spree in Florida, police say. Authorities say three of the four suspects have been arrested and face multiple charges, while one suspect is still on the run. What we know The Doral Police Department recently shared a video that shows a group of suspects stealing more than 200 pounds of mail. Investigators say the incident took place around 1:52 a.m. on April 29 at the Pinnacle community, which is located at 10320 NW 76th Lane. Video captured shows a white Nissan Rouge entering the community. Four males were then observed opening mailboxes with a master key. The suspects are seen emptying the mail into large garbage bags and then fleeing the scene. Officials say more than 200 pounds of mail holding personal information and credit cards was stolen from the people living in the community. Joann's, the fabric place, is closing stores. Is your Miami or Broward site on the list?

Just when some millennials seem to be enjoying crafting fabric into dresses and quilts like their grandmothers did generations ago, one of the country's longest-running fabric and arts and craft chains announced plans to close more than half of its U.S. locations — including 10 stores in South Florida. Joann has been around for more than 80 years and has been part of the South Florida retail scene for decades, including a long-time storefront down the street from Kendall's Dadeland Mall. The company filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in January for the second time since initially filing and going private in March 2024. This time the announcement adds that Joann will close about 500 of its 850 stores nationwide, USA Today reported. Miami and Broward shutdowns Among the Joann locations on the to-close list: stores on North Kendall Drive in the Greenery Mall, Flagler Street at Flagler Park Plaza, and Cutler Bay's Caribbean Boulevard in Miami-Dade. In Broward, locations on Hollywood Boulevard, South Federal Highway in Pompano Beach and the Margate store are also on the closing list. Florida, with 36 stores set to close, is second to California that will see 61 Joann stores shutter. Stores in Pembroke Pines, Boynton Beach, Wellington, West Palm Beach, Naples, Sarasota, Orlando and Tampa are also on the list. The Ohio-based Joann, in a webpage devoted to the restructuring, didn't announce a closing date. 'Stores are open. is shipping orders and team members are receiving pay and benefits,' the company posted. 'JOANN is committed to providing our customers — the sewists, quilters, crocheters, crafters and other creative enthusiasts we have served for more than 80 years — with great service and assortments and to supporting our thousands of team members across the nation throughout this process.' This story will be updated with a list of affected stores in South Florida.
