‘I only sell Coke': Morgantown man charged after troopers find drugs, stolen gun in car

MORGANTOWN, (WBOY) — A Morgantown man is facing charges after West Virginia State Troopers say they found a loaded stolen gun and multiple drugs, including fentanyl, while searching a vehicle. According to a criminal complaint, on Jan. 24, troopers were conducting a patrol on Interstate 68 in Monongalia County when they noticed a Silver Chevrolet Equinox driving at around 40 mph in a posted 70 mph zone and crossing over the fog line on the right side of the road 'multiple times.' Troopers then turned on their emergency lights and initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle near mile marker 10. When troopers approached the vehicle, they said they smelled the odor of marijuana coming from the inside of the vehicle and the driver was not wearing a seatbelt. Man who led officers on high-speed I-79 chase said he used meth that day: Police Both the driver and the passenger said that they didn't have a driver's license or identification on them, but troopers were able to identify them both, including the passenger, Daisean Washington, 18, of Morgantown, the complaint said. Troopers then detained both of them and began a probable cause search of the vehicle. During the search, troopers said they found a 'raw, measurable, leafy, green substance' as well as a loaded Glock 17 handgun with an extended magazine holding around 30 bullets. Troopers then ran a check on the serial number of the gun and found that it was stolen out of York, Pennsylvania. Washington was then placed under arrest and a search of his person was conducted which yielded a plastic bag containing 'a fine blue powder substance, a plastic bag containing a white powder substance, and an assortment of colored pills in another plastic bag' as well as cash, the complaint said. Troopers said they then conducted a Mirandized interview with Washington, who admitted to selling controlled substances for profit and told troopers 'I only sell Coke.' Washington also admitted that the blue powder was mixed with fentanyl, the complaint said. Washington has been charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and is being held in the North Central Regional Jail on a $25,000 bond. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc.
