Simu Liu and Allison Hsu Are Engaged! Here's What to Know About Her $300,000 Oval-Shaped Ring
Congratulations are in order for Simu Liu and Allison Hsu! On Sunday, May 11, the couple announced that they were engaged, sharing photos of the proposal and the ring on Instagram. Liu, the star of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, popped the question with a oval-shaped solitaire. 'From weekends in Paris, day trips to Palm Springs, long nights on set, afternoons vegging on the couch and everything in between, I choose you forever and always,' he wrote in the caption of a post that featured him and his new fiancée sharing a kiss in the middle of a romantic setup.
The proposal, which was planned by The Proposers and Daisy Amodio Events, included an array of spring-hued florals, candles, and scattered rose petals on a balcony at the Shangri-La Paris that overlooked the Eiffel Tower. However, the oval sparkler selected by Liu may have been even more impressive than the romantic backdrop. 'The diamond, set on a simple yellow gold band is likely six carats and could range anywhere from $150,000-$300,000, depending on quality,' Emily Strauss, the founder of EF Collection, a Los Angeles-based fine jewelry brand, exclusively tells BRIDES.

'CONGRATS!!!!,' added Ken Jeong. Other stars, including Robbie Amell, Lance Bass, Olivia Munn, and Priyanka Chopra, also expressed their excitement over the the duo's new status.
Liu started dating Hsu, a digital marketing director for Interscope Records, in 2022. In November of that year, the couple made their red carpet debut, stepping out in holiday-themed sweaters for the premiere of Violent Night. In 2023, the actor revealed more about their relationship, sharing a heartfelt Instagram post in honor of his partner's birthday. 'Happy birthday to the girl who truly does it all,' he wrote in the caption. 'She inspires me in her passion for music (well… one musician specifically), teaches me how to balance a busy and chaotic schedule with grace, and touches me in how she cares for each and every person in her life. Most importantly, she shows me that the people we love are always worth fighting for.'
Over the years, the Barbie star has detailed the strong connection he feels with his partner. In a 2023 interview with People, he said Hsu has given him a feeling of security. 'I feel challenged and loved and cared for, and I feel championed,' he told the magazine. 'I think the best, healthiest relationships are ones where you have each other's back, and I definitely feel like that's the case.'
