Two from Austin injured in Friday crash
Feb. 18—A pair from Austin were injured and sent to the hospital Friday afternoon after the vehicle they were riding in lost control in Freeborn County while traveling on Interstate 90. According to a Minnesota State Patrol, Jasmine Lee Flink Whelan, 27, the driver of the 2004 Ford Explorer, and passenger Daisy Raven Whelan, 24, were transported to Mayo Clinic Health System-Albert Lea with non-life threatening injuries. A third passenger, an unidentified child, was not injured. The accident took place at around 4:22 p.m. on Friday afternoon at milepost 173 in Oakland Township when the Explorer, while the vehicle was traveling westbound on I-90 when lost control and rolled. The report states that roads were snow/ice covered.

Two Austin women injured in Interstate 90 crash Friday
Feb. 17—OAKLAND TOWNSHIP, Minn. — Two Austin women were injured in a single-vehicle crash Friday, Feb. 14, 2025, on Interstate 90 in Freeborn County. A 2004 Ford Explorer was westbound on I-90 when it lost control and rolled near milepost 173 around 4:22 p.m., according to a Minnesota State Patrol crash report. The driver, Jasmine Lee Flink Whelan, 27, of Austin, was transported to Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea with non-life-threatening injuries. A passenger, Daisy Raven Whelan, 24, of Austin, was also transported to Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea with non-life-threatening injuries. Another passenger, an infant boy, was not injured. The road conditions were reported as snow/ice at the time of the crash. Mayo Clinic Ambulance also responded to the scene.

2 injured in crash on I-90 in Freeborn County
Feb. 15—Two Austin residents were injured Friday afternoon after a vehicle rollover on Interstate 90 in Oakland Township. According to the Minnesota State Patrol, Jasmine Lee Flink Whelan, 27, and Daisy Raven Whelan, 24, were taken by ambulance to Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea with injuries deemed not life-threatening. The report stated Jasmine Whelan was driving a 2004 Ford Explorer westbound on I-90 at milepost 173 at 4:22 p.m. when the vehicle lost control and rolled. A third passenger, a male infant, was not injured. The roads were listed as snowy and icy at the time of the crash.
