'The dreamiest boss of all time': Olivia Rodrigo paid for crew's therapy while on tour

It seems the therapists Olivia Rodrigo found for her band really helped. The 22-year-old "Vampire" singer and her tour manager Marty Hom provided free and accessible therapy for the entire "Guts" tour crew, rhythm guitarist Daisy Spencer revealed on "The StageLeft Podcast." "I have never had anything like that," Spencer, 31, told host Chris Simpson. "And that reignited the importance of therapy to me because I had kind of fallen off for so long." Rodrigo and Spencer just wrapped the 102-date "Guts" world tour July 1 and completed a successful headlining set at Glastonbury, where they were joined on stage by the Cure's Robert Smith. While on the podcast, Spencer described Rodrigo as "the dreamiest boss of all time" and opened up about taking care of her mind and body on the road. "I was going, you know, once a week, once every other week, whenever I could. And it was even during the off time — we also still had access to this resource." Rodrigo's dad, Chris Rodrigo, is a family therapist, and the singer has been very open about starting therapy at 16. "That was a really big, life-changing moment," she told CBS Sunday Morning in 2021. "I've learned so much about myself." And she's not the only musician promoting therapy. Lewis Capaldi, who returned to the stage after a two-year break from performing to focus on his all-around health, announced Monday that he's partnering with BetterHelp to provide 734,000 hours of free online therapy. Ariana Grande has also partnered with the virtual therapy platform several times in the past. Though the "Guts" tour has concluded, Rodrigo still has several festival engagements lined up for the summer, including a headlining set Aug. 1 at Lollapalooza. Olivia Rodrigo offers generous perk to team members

When Olivia Rodrigo sang 'I hope you're happy and healthy' in her hit song 'Good For You,' she meant it. One of her crew members revealed the generous perk the singer provides to make sure her team is just that. Guitarist Daisy Spencer told 'The StageLeft Podcast' that Rodrigo pays for therapy for her entire band and crew, both on and off tour. She said the singer made it accessible and free during her Guts World Tour, adding that it made a massive positive difference. 'Honestly, that was one of the coolest things that has ever happened on tour,' Spencer explained. 'Like, seriously, one of the best things you can give to people is accessible free therapy, because it can get kind of expensive.' 'I have never had anything like that. And that reignited the importance of therapy to me because I had just kind of fallen off for so long, and then suddenly I had this free resource of incredible therapists, and I utilized the crap out of that,' she continued. The musician called the 'drivers license' singer 'literally is the dreamiest boss of all time.' Rodrigo has been a longtime advocate of mental health. Back in 2021, she took to X, saying, 'Can't wait to tell my therapist that ppl like the song.' Her father is also a family therapist. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. Olivia Rodrigo's Guitarist Spills On The 'Coolest' Perk She Gives The Band, Crew

Olivia Rodrigo's touring guitarist, Daisy Spencer, has revealed that the music superstar has paid for her band and crew to get free therapy. 'Honestly, that was one of the coolest things that has ever happened on tour, like seriously, that is one of the best things you can give to people,' said Spencer on a recent episode of 'The StageLeft Podcast.' Spencer explained that she had 'fallen off for quite a while' with therapy and was struggling to find a therapist that was the right fit before Rodrigo and Marty Hom, the manager of her Guts World Tour, made the service free and accessible to tour personnel. 'So I have never had anything like that and that reignited the importance of therapy to me,' said Spencer of the perk, which could be used both on the road and off the tour. She later continued, 'Suddenly, I had this free resource of incredible therapists, and I utilized the crap out of that.' Rodrigo — whose father, Chris Rodrigo, is a family therapist — has emphasized the importance of therapy over the years. She told CBS News Sunday Morning in 2021 that she started going to therapy at age 16, calling the move a 'really big, life-changing moment' where she 'learned so much about' herself as a result. The singer-songwriter acknowledged there's a stigma around mental health, noting that some people may dismiss her seeking therapy with claims that her 'life is so great' and questioning what 'problems' she has. 'I think that's definitely a thing that sometimes older people can do to younger people, too, is kind of trivialize what they're going through just because they're like, 'Aha, they're fine, they're just kids, they'll get through it,'' Rodrigo said. 'But it feels so real when you're in it, and it's so valid, and just because it's not an adult problem or you don't have to pay taxes yet or whatever, doesn't mean that it doesn't hurt.' Spencer — who describes herself as a 'huge advocate' of therapy — said the service can 'get kind of expensive' and noted that she's started using the service once a week or every other week. She said therapy has helped her with 'unprocessed trauma' as she's been touring since age 17 and it's been 'such a gift' to look within herself.
