Garnant Park Golf Club raises £4,000 for Wales Air Ambulance
The annual Captain's Day event at Garnant Park members golf club raised £4,000 for the Wales Air Ambulance charity.
Captain Anthony Bissick of the Amman Valley golf club shared how the air ambulance became personally significant after a family tragedy.
On May 16, his sister Danielle, who was pregnant at the time, suffered a brain haemorrhage.
Two air ambulances were sent to provide life-saving care during the incident, with medical personnel performing an emergency delivery of her baby at the scene.
Afterwards, Danielle was taken to Morriston Hospital in Swansea, and her baby was transported to Cardiff's University Hospital of Wales.
Sadly, Danielle could not be saved on that day.
Baby Dalton-Henri survived on life support for a week but later died on May 23.
Medical efforts on the day provided the family with precious time to be with Dalton-Henri, before his death.
In addition, the air ambulance provided invaluable bereavement support services to the family.
Mr Bissick has pledged to continue fundraising for the air ambulance during his tenure as club captain, with a number of strategies in place.
One of them being the 'captain's bunker,' where golfers must make a donation if their ball lands in the bunker.
The clubhouse bar also has Wales Air Ambulance donation collection boxes.
