The Warehouse Group has appointed its chief financial officer to lead the company.
Mark Stirton, who has been with
The Warehouse
since April 2024, will take on the role of chief executive from 1 August
.
The Warehouse chair Dame Joan Withers said he had the energy and drive to modernise the business, with extensive retail experience.
"Mark's . . . proven ability to deliver on the execution of strategy make him the ideal leader to accelerate the improvement program that we have underway," she said.
Stirton was previously the chief financial officer at large South African retailer, Mr Price Group, with more than 3,000 stores.
He said he felt privileged to be assuming the key leadership position.
"We need to build on our progress made to date to deliver further value for our customers, team members and our shareholders," he said
The Warehouse Group has had a few
tough years
, which saw the former chief executive Nick Grayston step down nearly one year ago with immediate effect.
Interim chief executive John Journee would stay in the role until the end of July, and then continue on the board as a non-independent director.
