Rajanarasimha calls for legal action against those selling fake seeds

Mahabubnagar: In a strong message to protect farmers, District In-charge Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha has directed officials to take strict action against the sale of spurious seeds in Mahabubnagar and Narayanpet districts. During a high-level review meeting at the Collectorate on Friday, the Minister, along with district minister Jupally Krishna Rao, called for the immediate registration of cases and legal action against those selling fake seeds, warning that no negligence will be tolerated. The review focused on key issues like agricultural plans for the upcoming season, the availability of seeds and fertilizers, paddy procurement, Indiramma housing scheme, seasonal diseases, and progress under government initiatives. Highlighting the government's commitment to farmers, Jupally instructed Collectors to recover pending dues from rice millers, which include Rs 53 crore in Narayanpet district alone. He also reminded officials that the government is offering a bonus for paddy farmers—a first in the state—and said the credit must go to the present administration. Rajanarasimha also directed officials to speed up the construction of Indiramma houses and resolve land issues through the Bhu Bharati portal. He promised to bring the MLAs' request for Indiramma housing list approvals before Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. On the healthcare front, the Minister ordered early preparations for seasonal diseases like dengue and assured that Mahabubnagar Hospital will soon get an MRI machine, CT scan facilities, a Regional Cancer Centre, and an Organ Retrieval Centre. Fogging operations and public health campaigns will be intensified, particularly in vulnerable areas.

Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha reviews Covid-19 status, monsoon disease preparedness in Telangana

HYDERABAD: Health officials informed Health Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha during a review meeting on Monday that, based on available data and ongoing research, there is no current danger from Covid-19. They assured the minister that there is no need for panic, as herd immunity has already been achieved across the state and the country. Raja Narasimha convened a high-level review meeting at the Secretariat to assess the Covid-19 situation and preparedness for the prevention and control of seasonal diseases in the state. Subject experts briefed the minister on Covid-19 trends both nationally and globally. They said, according to current data, the situation remains under control and does not pose any significant public health threat. Although some countries have reported a sporadic rise in cases, hospitalisation rates remain negligible. The experts advised that individuals with comorbidities or compromised immunity should exercise caution, though there is no cause for widespread public concern. They further noted that the country has largely achieved herd immunity, which is helping stabilise the situation. Asymptomatic and silent transmissions are occasionally observed but tend to subside without significant impact. Regarding preparedness for seasonal illnesses ahead of the monsoon, the health minister stressed the need for an advanced surveillance system to monitor acute respiratory infections and vector-borne diseases such as dengue, chikungunya and typhoid. He suggested collaboration with institutions including CCMB, CDFD, NIN-ICMR, AIIMS Bibinagar and NIMS. He directed officials to strengthen seasonal illness preparedness, including sanitation, vector control and district-level coordination, to be undertaken proactively ahead of the monsoon. With agricultural activity increasing during the season, the minister also flagged the potential rise in snake and scorpion bite incidents. He instructed all healthcare facilities, from Primary Health Centres to teaching hospitals, to be equipped with adequate antivenom and supportive medication.

Telangana reviews Covid readiness; urges vigilance against monsoon diseases

HYDERABAD: Health Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha chaired a high-level review meeting to assess the Covid-19 situation and the Health department's readiness to manage seasonal diseases. Health Secretary Christina Z Chongthu, senior officials, and epidemiologists attended the meeting. Experts noted that while some countries have seen a slight uptick in Covid cases, hospitalisation rates remain low. In India, the situation is stable with limited JN.1 variant cases, which currently pose no major concern. No new advisories have been issued by the Union Health Ministry. Epidemiologists confirmed that Covid-19 has been in the endemic phase for nearly three years, with minor fluctuations expected. A rise in respiratory infections is anticipated due to seasonal weather, but herd immunity and mild symptoms suggest there is no immediate cause for concern. Healthcare infrastructure is well-equipped, with adequate testing kits and medicines. The minister emphasised the importance of monitoring national and global trends and continuing public education on Covid-19's endemic status. He also urged citizens to stay vigilant during the monsoon season, highlighting the need for preventive measures against vector-borne diseases like dengue and malaria. He directed the Health department to ensure sufficient stocks of medicines and called for coordinated action with allied departments to strengthen disease prevention efforts statewide.

Telangana health minister Rajanarasimha reviews Covid-19 situation in state

Hyderabad: Telangana Health Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha , convened a high-level review meeting to assess the current COVID-19 scenario in the State and preparedness of the health department to effectively manage seasonal diseases. A COVID-19 case was reported in Hyderabad and the patient, a pulmonologist, has fully recovered, officials said on Friday. Officials and subject experts presented a detailed briefing on the prevailing situation in India and other countries. It was noted that while some countries have reported a slight rise in COVID-19 cases, hospitalization rates remain significantly low, an official release said. In India, the situation remains stable. A limited number of JN.1 variant cases have been detected, a variant that has been in circulation since 2023 and currently poses no significant concern, it said. Officials clarified that no new advisories or guidelines have been issued by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, which can be attributed to the controlled nature of the situation. Epidemiologists informed the Minister that COVID-19 transitioned to the endemic stage nearly three years ago, and periodic fluctuations in case numbers are consistent with endemic behaviour. They also noted that due to prevailing weather conditions, an increase in respiratory infections such as cough, cold, and fever is also expected. Factors such as herd immunity due to immunization against Covid, the mild nature of symptoms due to the JN.1 variant and the low incidence of hospitalisation, all indicate that the situation is under control. There is no immediate cause for concern, as on date, the release said. Sporadic cases of covid-19 can be managed very well, with the available healthcare personnel and infrastructure. There are no reports of hospitalisation or institutional patient care required, unless there are coexisting morbidities due to other underlying chronic ailments, the release added. The State has adequate availability of testing kits, medicines and testing facilities, apart from healthcare facilities. The public is urged to remain calm, and to exercise personal hygiene and precaution at their end. The Minister directed the officials that the evolving situation in other states and countries should continue to be closely monitored and emphasised the importance of continued public education on the endemic nature of COVID-19.
