'Our gratitude is endless': Dua Lipa granted Kosovan citizenship
Pop royalty Dua Lipa has been granted Kosovan citizenship. During a ceremony hosted by the country's president Vjosa Osmani, the 'Levitating', 'Houdini' and 'Dance The Night' singer was officially named as a citizen of Kosovo. She was hailed by Osmani on Friday 1 August as 'one of the most iconic cultural figures in our country's history'. Osmani added: 'Dua and Kosovo have always been inseparable. From the world's biggest stages to the hearts of millions, she's carried our story with strength, pride, and grace. Our gratitude is endless for everything Dua has done, and continues to do for Kosovo.' Also in attendance was UK Ambassador to Kosovo, Jonathan Hargreaves – as well as a group of children dressed in white singing her hit single 'Levitating'. In a statement, Lipa said 'it feels like my two sides are now one,' adding: 'It completes the duality I have always had within. I love this country and this means so much to me and my family.' The singer was born in London to Kosovan-Albanian parents and lived in Pristina, the capital of Kosovo, between the ages of 11 and 15. She is now a citizen of the UK, Albania and Kosovo – as Lipa was granted Albanian citizenship in 2022 for promoting the country through her career. Lipa was in Kosovo following her headline slot at the Sunny Hill Festival, which she established with her father in 2018. After her performance on Friday, she wrote on Instagram: "Sharing this night with you all, in the city that shaped me, surrounded by so much energy, joy, and pride… it's hard to put into words what it means." Kosovo declared independence from Serbia in 2008, and Serbia refuses to recognise the country. It has been recognised by the UK, US and the other G7 nations - although not Spain or Greece. In other news, Dua Lipa added her name to a list of other artists and celebrities who hit out at British Prime Minister Keir Starmer's response to an open letter that called for the end of 'UK complicity in Gaza.' The refugee charity Choose Love put forward the request that UK arms sales to Israel be immediately suspended and that the government commit to seeking a ceasefire for 'the children of Gaza' in May. The letter was backed by Lipa, Massive Attack, Riz Ahmed, Tilda Swinton, Benedict Cumberbatch and many more. On 10 July, Starmer responded to the letter, saying the UK Government has 'made it clear to the Government of Israel that the level of human suffering in Gaza is intolerable.' He added: 'It is also wholly inadequate that the Government of Israel is only allowing a basic quantity of food into Gaza.' On 31 July, Choose Love issued a response to Starmer, saying his reply 'does not meet the urgency or clarity this moment demands,' adding: 'We need actions not words.' 'Prime Minister, you've built your career as a human rights lawyer, defending the powerless and challenging injustice,' the letter continues. 'In years to come, when you are asked whether you have done enough, what will you say?' You can read the full response here. The UN has found Israel's military actions to be consistent with genocide, even if the state of Israel denies accusations of genocide and war crimes.

This June, Grammy-winning artist Dua Lipa is taking over Wembley Stadium as part of her worldwide Radical Optimism Tour. The artist, known for hits 'Dance The Night' and 'One Kiss', is coming to Wembley after headlining the Glastonbury Festival in 2024. The Radical Optimism Tour promises stunning visuals, amazing vocals, spectacular dance routines, costumes and Dua Lipa performing all of her hits. If you were able to get tickets to see Dua Lipa at Wembley, find out everything you need to know from the support acts, timings, the setlist and more. Dua Lipa will be performing at the iconic Wembley Stadium for two nights, on Friday, June 20 and Saturday, June 21. If you want to head down early to soak in the atmosphere before the BRIT Award winner takes to the stage, you can at 5pm when the doors at Wembley open. Pop star Dua Lipa returned to London with her Radical Optimism tour, kicking off the first night at Wembley Stadium with a surprise appearance from Jamiroquai lead singer Jay Kay. Amidst a flurry of dance routines, costume changes and confetti canons, the singer made her way through her latest album, Radical Optimism, on Friday night before bringing out the 90s funk band frontman. Without missing her biggest hits, the British-Albanian songstress performed the likes of New Rules, Be The One and Barbie's Dance The Night to more than 70,000 people. Transforming the stadium into her own dance floor, the pop star kicked off her concert with Training Season before pausing to say she was "blown away," adding that it was "surreal" to be performing at Wembley. Appearing a little emotional, she said: "This is so surreal and so crazy. "It means the absolute world to me that you are here tonight. "It feels really really special to be here tonight. "It is 10 years since our first ever London show to about 350 people and I just dreamt of a night like this where I get to be in front of 70,000 people." Later, she left the stage to take photographs with fans and asked if they were having a good night, but most were too excited to form full sentences. After taking photos with the front row fans, Lipa returned to the stage to perform These Walls before introducing the song that "started everything". She said: "I want to take it back to the beginning a little bit. This song really kind of changed my life. "This is the song that got me signed and it's the song that started everything and I feel like with weather like this, there is only one song that I could do. This is Hotter Than Hell." The singer again expressed how grateful she was to be performing at Wembley, before introducing someone who really "inspired" her. She said: "Someone who has really been a trailblazer for British music and has really paved the way, I feel so lucky to share the stage with the one and only Jamiroquai!" The frontman of the 90s funk band, Kay, emerged onto the stage, joining Lipa to sing the group's hit song Virtual Insanity. Towards the end of the concert, Lipa returned to the hit songs that prompted her rise to fame, including 2016's Be The One, and her 2017 break-up anthem New Rules. Lipa has several Brit Awards to her name, along with three Grammys and was one of the headline acts at Glastonbury Festival last year. Lipa recently confirmed her engagement to Masters Of The Air actor Callum Turner.
