New information sought in 1984 unsolved murder of Oregon Coast teen
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Officials in Lincoln County are asking the public for new information on the murder of a teenage girl which has gone unsolved for over 40 years. On March 9, 1984, authorities said 17-year-old Kelly Disney was reported missing after being last seen walking eastbound on Highway 20 near U.S. 101 in Newport. The death of Dane Paulsen: New details of body found in Siletz River In July 1994, over 10 years after her disappearance, Disney's skull was found in an abandoned vehicle near Big Creek Reservoir outside of Newport. Her death was ruled a homicide after officials said, 'It appeared her skull had recently been placed at that location.' The Lincoln County District Attorney's Office said they have reason to believe members of the community have information in the investigation and are encouraging them to come forward. Gresham police seek teen suspect in fatal shooting of 17-year-old boy

Authorities responded to an 'apparent unprovoked attack' on the Vance Park futsal court just after 4 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 23, and found , 17, had been shot and killed, police said. Oregon gun control law is constitutional, according to state appeals court
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – A controversial gun control law has been deemed constitutional in the Oregon Court of Appeals, effectively lifting the hold on gun safety protections in the state. Oregon voters , but it was quickly placed on hold due to a that the law violated the state constitution. Measure 114, , requires that someone must have a permit as well as a completed criminal background check before buying a gun. In order to receive a permit, one must complete a gun safety course and prove that they are not a danger to themselves or others. Search ends for Dane Paulsen after volunteer diver recovers body The law also limits the legal magazine capacity to 10 or fewer rounds — though there are exceptions for police and the military. According to Oregon Attorney General Dan Rayfield, this change is long overdue. 'Oregonians voted for this, and it's time we move ahead with common-sense safety measures,' Rayfield said. 'Today's decision is a big step forward for gun safety in Oregon. This measure gives us the tools to make sure gun buyers go through background checks and get proper permits, helping to keep firearms out of the wrong hands and making our communities safer.' Toddler found dead in river 10 days after vanishing, Oregon cops say. ‘Little angel'
A missing 2-year-old boy was found dead in an Oregon river after 10 days of extensive searching, deputies said. Dane Paulsen's body was discovered at about 11:15 a.m. March 11 in the Siletz River, the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office said in a Facebook post. He was found about 3 miles downstream from his home near Siletz by diver volunteer Juan Heredia of Angels Recovery Dive Team, deputies said. Heredia, from Stockton, California, heard about the missing child when he was on vacation in Mexico, he told KOIN. He drove 12 hours to help search for the child and was in the water for two hours before finding him, the news outlet reported. When Dane first disappeared, rescuers began scouring the area around the home, McClatchy News reported. Search efforts included a boat combing 14 miles of the river, underwater sonar and drones and hundreds of miles covered by ground teams. Additionally, police dogs, drones, numerous agencies and over 200 community volunteers all looked for Dane. After days of searching, teams then turned their attention to the river after discovering evidence linked to the water, deputies said in another post. 'Our thoughts are with the family, who are facing an unbearable sorrow,' Sheriff Adam Shanks said on Facebook. 2 yr old Dane Paulsen has been found deceased in the river.
