Jackson mayor confirms niece was shot in July
LANSING, Mich. () — Jackson Mayor Daniel Mahoney confirmed his niece, Mia Sims, was shot and killed in late July. Sims, 18, was shot near the United Peoples Church in Jackson. Man wanted in shooting death of 18-year-old Jackson woman 'He shot my niece while she was at church,' Mahoney wrote on social media. 'She went outside to get pancakes her grandmother made for her and never returned back in to the church. She was 18, she just graduated high school. Now her killer is just out here.' Police are now calling for the community's help to find Antonio Treyvonne Green, who is charged with the shooting of Sims. Jackson Mayor to hold State of the City address
LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Jackson Mayor Daniel Mahoney will deliver Jackson's State of the City Address Wednesday evening at the City Center, formerly the Masonic Temple. The address is an annual event that celebrates community progress over the past year and outlines plans for the future. The city says the event will allow residents to see construction progress at what was formerly the Masonic Temple and what will be the new City Center. The building will feature an incubator kitchen and food service training center. Construction is expected to wrap up later this spring.
