Showcase organizer Danielle George said people will often think of Toronto when they think of steelpan music in Canada.
'I thought this would be a great event to get some eyes on this side of Canada and bring all the steelbands together and showcase what they can do,' said George.
Bands from Saskatchewan, B.C., Lethbridge, Calgary and Edmonton filled the day's lineup.

George said people often think there are only a couple of steelbands in western Canada.
'We have quite a bit over here.'
The showcase's inaugural year had close to 500 people in attendance.
