Drogs in talks with UEFA over Conference League participation
Drogheda United are in discussions with UEFA over their Conference League participation after Danish side Silkeborg IF, who have the same owners as the Louth club, also qualified for the third-tier European competition on Sunday. Silkeborg IF beat Randers FC 3-1 in the Danish Superliga to secure a place Conference League qualifiers. Last November, the Drogs earned their spot after they beat Derry City to win the FAI Cup. A month after that memorable triumph, the US-based Trivela Group secured a majority share of Silkeborg IF. They also own English League Two outfit Walsall. UEFA's regulations regarding multi-club ownership and participation state that: "No individual or legal entity may have control or influence over more than one club participating in a UEFA club competition, such control or influence being defined in this context as: Holding a majority of the shareholders' voting rights; Having the right to appoint or remove a majority of the members of the administrative, management or supervisory body of the club; Being a shareholder and alone controlling a majority of the shareholders' voting rights pursuant to an agreement entered into with other shareholders of the club; or Being able to exercise by any means a decisive influence in the decision-making of the club." A Drogheda United statement released on Sunday night read: "Drogheda United Football Club can confirm that it has been engaged in ongoing discussions with UEFA in recent months regarding a regulatory matter that has now arisen following Silkeborg IF's qualification for the UEFA Conference League qualifiers. "As supporters will know, Silkeborg IF is also part of the Trivela Group ownership structure, which includes Drogheda United. "UEFA's regulations regarding multi-club ownership and participation in UEFA Club Competitions require careful consideration, and the club has been working proactively with the relevant authorities. "At this time, due to the confidential and ongoing nature of the process, Drogheda United is unable to provide further comment. However, the club remains committed to transparency and will provide updates as soon as there are any significant developments to share. "We appreciate the continued support and understanding of our fans, partners, and wider community."

10 bold Celtic transfers to trigger a record-breaking summer as Kvistgaarden and quintet of wingers lead the way
The Scottish champions are set to spend big again this summer in what could be Brendan Rodgers' final season Brendan Rodgers is set to be bankrolled with another eye-watering transfer kitty this summer as Celtic prepare to splash the cash. The Hoops forked out £11million to land Arne Engels from Augsburg last August and are poised to break that again in their quest for five-in-a-row. Parkhead chiefs are hell-bent on backing Double-winning Rodgers to the hilt in what could be his last season in Glasgow. Rodgers was handed a jaw-dropping £40m warchest in 2024/25, shelling out on lucrative deals for Engels, Adam Idah, Auston Trusty and Jota. The jury remains out on some of those marquee arrivals, but with a two-legged Champions League playoff to navigate this season, Celtic know they'll have to open the chequebook again. Here, Record Sport looks at 10 potential money-spinning targets that could take Celtic to the next level. Mathias Kvistgaarden The name that just won't go away. Ask most Celtic fans, and the new Denmark call-up would top their wishlist. Kvistgaarden ended the season with 23 goals for Brondby and supporters are already resigned to losing their homegrown hero this summer. The 23-year-old is hot property though and a bidding war could see his asking price soar beyond his current £11m valuation. A long-term target for Rodgers, the hottest talent in the Danish Superliga could be Celtic's box-office signing. David Strelec It's understood the Slovakian hitman was the subject of a £7.5m offer from the Hoops in January. Celtic, of course, know all about the Slovan Bratislava star as he played in the 5-1 Champions League drubbing at Parkhead last September. Strelec wrapped up the campaign with 25 goals to his name but his representative confirmed this week that there is currently no concrete offer on the table from the Scottish champions. Michel-Ange Balikwisha Flying machine Balikwisha is another player who Celtic have been keeping tabs on for months. The 23-year-old's season was ruined by injuries but he returned to full fitness in March, contributing four goals and three assists in just 10 appearances. Out-of-contract next year, the Belgium Under-21 cap looks certain to move on this summer. Balikwisha confirmed the Glasgow giants had made offers for him this season but said: 'Celtic's interest was concrete, but I chose to stay. Leaving with an injury was not ideal. I'd rather take good care of myself so I could be ready for the play-offs with Antwerp. We'll see in the summer transfer window." Raul Moro Another wideman who fits the bill is Real Valladolid's star man. Moro was at the centre of a transfer tug-of-war in January as the Hoops and Ajax both expressed an interest in the £8.5m-rated Spain Under-21 cap. But the 22-year-old - who arrived in a bargain £2m deal from Lazio last summer - was left devastated as a fractured collarbone scuppered his chances of a move. Despite being tipped for months on the sidelines, Moro made a quick recovery, missing only four La Liga games. And after Valladolid - owned by Real Madrid legend Ronaldo - suffered relegation, prized asset Moro will likely be flogged. Sondre Ørjasæter Highly-rated Norweigan starlet Ørjasæter has been touted for a huge future in the game. And multiple reports claimed the Parkhead club had a £4.3m bid knocked back in January. The left-sided winger has lit up the Eliteserien since joining Sarpsborg 08 last year, registering an impressive 17 goal contributions in just 40 games. Asked directly about links to Celtic, Ørjasæter, admitted in February: "Of course it's cool that big clubs are interested. But I don't want to comment on rumours. Doesn't affect me at all. I just try to relax, train well every day and have fun with the guys on the team." It's believed the 21-year-old would command a fee upwards of £7m. Million Manhoef Stoke City's pace merchant is said to feature on Celtic's long list of attacking targets. The Netherlands youth international has been one of the standouts in his first full season in the EFL Championship. Since arriving in a £3m switch from Vitesse, the 23-year-old has 11 goals and five assists for the Potters. And that's seen his stock explode, with a £10m price tag rumoured to be slapped on his head. A previous target for Rangers, Stoke are braced for serious interest and Celts could knock at the door. Lennon Miller Teenage sensation Miller, 19, is destined for bigger and better things after a stunning breakthrough at Motherwell. The uncapped Scot - voted PFA and SFWA Player of the Year - is out of contract next summer and Well are resigned to losing their academy starlet. It was suggested that Celtic had a bid rejected in January but with German heavyweights Borussia Dortmund and French Ligue 1 side Star sniffing around, the Steelmen are guaranteed to pocket a club record fee that would eclipse David Turnbull's £3.25m switch to Parkhead in 2020. Veljko Milosavljevic Despite spending millions on Trusty, Maik Nawrocki and Gustaf Lagerbielke, Rodgers has yet to find a reliable partner for first-choice stopper Cameron Carter-Vickers. But wonderkid Milosavljevic could be the answer. Reports emerging from Serbia claim the Hoops have seen a first bid for the 17-year-old rejected by Red Star Belgrade - falling way short of the £8.4m asking price. The towering defender has also been scouted by Champions League finalists PSG and English Premier League outfit Everton. Keita Kosugi In-demand Japanese defender Kosugi has been heavily linked with Celtic. Japanese sources claim the Djurgarden teen, 19, is at the centre of a three-way battle between the Scottish Double winners, French moneybags PSG and Italian powerhouses Atalanta. Kosugi - who is an U20 international - has been an ever-present for the Swedes in their 10 league games so far and also started both Europa Conference League semi-final legs against Chelsea. The verstaile left-back - who can also play central or on the right - would be viewed as a perfect understudy to incoming Kieran Tierney, with Greg Taylor yet to sign a new deal. Oskar Fallenius Kosugi isn't the only Djurgarden youngster attracting Celtic's interest, with reports in Sweden claiming speed demon Fallenius is also on the radar. And if the rumours are to be believed, then the Double winners could also face competition from Glasgow rivals Rangers. The former Brondby kid has caught the eye in Allsvenskan and has taken his game to another level since switching from right to left wing in his major breakthrough season. He would be regarded as one for the future. Mathias Kvistgaarden waves Brondby farewell but Celtic hit with transfer blow as boss throws spanner in works
The striker appears to have played his last game for the Danish club, who finished third in the Superliga Mathias Kvistgaarden appeared to bid an emotional farewell to Brondby fans as the curtain fell on the Danish Superliga on Sunday night. The in-demand striker has been a long-term target for Brendan Rodgers and Celtic are expected to reignite their interest this summer. But the Scottish champions could face intense interest from other European clubs, with Kvistgaarden all but confirming he'll be leaving his beloved Brondby. The Denmark Under-21 international was given an incredible send off on Sunday night as Brondby ran out 3-2 winners away to AGF. Footage shared online captured supporters singing the homegrown star's name and unveiling a massive banner of the 23-year-old as Kvistgaarden showed his appreciation at full-time. And it could be the £11million-rated attacker's final appearance for the club as he looks set to take the next step in his career. However, in a bitter blow to Celtic, boss Benjamin Schmedes believes the 23-goal hitman is destined to play in one of Europe's top five leagues. Schmedes also confirmed that there are currently no offers on the table for Kvistgaarden as he opened the door on a big-money summer exit. He said: "We will look at it when there is something on the table that we can talk about. "We don't have that right now, so we are not saying goodbye to him yet. "We will sit down and look at the season, and then we will see what the transfer window brings. "That applies to Mathias and all the other players. "He is an interesting player for the five major leagues. It is not without reason that he was named player of the year, and there are many things that bigger clubs in the five major leagues could be interested in. "I will answer the phone when they call, and then we will see."

San Diego FC acquire F Milan Iloski on loan
April 2 - San Diego FC acquired forward Milan Iloski on loan from Danish side FC Nordsjaelland on Wednesday. The 25-year-old Southern California native's deal runs through the end of July. "Milan is an attacker who has proven he can score goals and impact the game in the final third throughout his career," said San Diego sporting director Tyler Heaps. "He has had a positive impact at FCN, and his time there will allow him to integrate quickly within the principles and group. On top of that, bringing another San Diego native back home is special, and we're thrilled to welcome him to SDFC as a valuable addition to our attack." Iloski joined Nordsjaelland in 2023 and has scored two goals in 18 matches with the Danish Superliga club. Iloski previously appeared in two MLS matches for Real Salt Lake during the 2020 and 2021 seasons. 'I'm not really okay with the numbers'
'I'm not really okay with the numbers' - Jatta Alassana Jatta is tied at the top of the League Two goal charts with AFC Wimbledon's Matty Stevens and Michael Cheek of Bromley [Getty Images] League Two's joint-leading scorer Alassana Jatta says he is frustrated not to have scored more goals for promotion-chasing Notts County. The Gambia international has 17 league goals this term, and 20 in all competitions, but is more concerned with propelling the Magpies into League One. Notts are currently sixth in League Two and just two points outside the automatic promotion spots. "It's a little bit frustrating and of course it gives you a trigger to work harder," he told BBC Radio Nottingham. Advertisement "You have to push yourself sometimes out of your comfort zone and go for the extra mile to help the team because I'm not really okay with the numbers now. "I just want it to be higher because the more goals that I get, the better it will be for the team." Jatta, 26, has found the net 25 times in 45 appearances since joining from Danish Superliga side Viborg in February last year, form which has attracted interest from other clubs. He has been linked with Championship side Coventry City, while an offer from an unnamed club was rejected by Notts during the January transfer window. Advertisement "I heard rumours about it, but I was actually focusing on Notts because I didn't want to be distracted," he added. "That's how football is whenever the window is open. There are always rumours here and there. "The worst thing you can do is have an ear on them because you're going to be distracted so I just shut my ears and focus on helping where I can. "I am under contract with Notts and have to show them maximum respect and do my job, whatever happens later. "We'll see what the next step will be, but for now the most important thing is to focus on Notts County and help the team meet its objectives."
