Man dies after being swept away while crossing Tuwaan River in Cotabato
A man died after he was swept away while crossing Tuwaan River in Alamada, Cotabato last Tuesday, May 20.
According to Dano Tingcungco's report in '24 Oras' on Thursday, the 60-year-old victim was found dead at Libungan River. Meanwhile, his 30-year-old son survived.
'Kasama niya 'yung anak niya na tumawid tapos naabutan ng ulo ng baha, so naanod silang dalawa, mga 100 meters. Sadly, 'yung tatay, nakabitaw doon sa anak kaya naanod 'yung tatay. 'Yung anak, naka-survive,' said Alamada MDRRMO head Jeanne Pulmones.

State weather bureau PAGASA said that Intertropical Convergence Zone or ITCZ prevails over Mindanao, bringing rainy weather to the island.
In Don Marcelino, Davao Occidental, the bad weather caused a river to have a raging current.
Also in Davao Occidental, a portion of a bridge in Jose Abad Santos town was damaged due to the strong current in the river. This left motorists no choice but to cross the floodwater.
The Department of Public Works and Highways Region 11 said that its personnel and heavy equipment are already on standby for the repairs awaiting the weather to improve.
In Maguindanao del Sur, over 50,000 families from 12 towns are affected by the flood in the province. Meanwhile, more than 1,300 families are currently staying in 10 evacuation centers.
