Over P1.9-B damage to agri due to Crising, Dante, Emong, Habagat —NDRRMC

More than P1.9 billion worth of agriculture were damaged due to combined effects of the southwest monsoon and tropical cyclones Crising, Dante, and Emong, according to data from National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council Wednesday. In its Situational Report No. 26 dated July 30, NDRRMC said the production loss or cost of damage reached P1,960,474,286.32 affecting 66,989 farmers and fisherfolks. The most affected was Region 3 posting P1,105,731,824.39 damage to agriculture; followed by Region 4B (MIMAROPA) with 190,461,873.31; Region 1 with P155,786,034.97; Region 4A (CALABARZON) with 146,738,657.04; Negros Island Region with P97,265,558.58; Region 6 with P83,204,081.20; Region 2 with P76,411,047; Region 12 with 58,681,824; Region 5 with P44,914,911.19. Meanwhile, the estimated cost of damage to infrastructure was at P9,499,410,993.514. Affected areas were Regions 1, 2, 3, Cordillera Administrative Region, 4A, 4B, 5, 6, NIR, and 10. A total of 37,557 houses were also damaged in Regions 1, 2, CAR, 3, 4A, 4B, 5, 6, NIR, 7, 9, 10, 11, 12, CARAGA, and Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao. NDRRMC noted that the decrease in figure was due to ongoing validation and verification. The tropical cyclones and Habagat also affected 2,064,096 families or 7,457,942 persons. Of the number, 32,332 families or 113,438 persons were served inside 1,145 evacuation centers and 23,967 families or 90,617 persons were served outside evacuation centers. Thirty-four people were reported dead, of which two have been validated while 32 are still being validated. Seven people were reported missing while 22 were injured.— AOL, GMA Integrated News

After a series of storms that hit the country, PAGASA said on Tuesday that there are no low pressure areas (LPAs) being monitored so far within the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR). 'As of 8:00 AM today, 29 July 2025. No low pressure areas are being monitored for tropical cyclone formation,' the state weather bureau said in an advisory. But PAGASA said that rainfall due to the Southwest Monsoon or Habagat will prevail in some areas, particularly in the main island of Luzon. Based on the heavy rainfall outlook, 50 to 100 millimeters of rain are expected over Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Abra, La Union, Benguet, Pangasinan, Zambales, and Bataan from Tuesday to Wednesday noon. Likewise, such amount of rainfall will be experienced until Thursday noon in Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Abra, La Union, and Benguet. According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), a total of 1,857,171 families or 6,670,506 persons in 17 regions were affected due to the combined impacts of the Habagat and typhoons 'Crising,' 'Dante,' and 'Emong.' The severe weather conditions also led to 34 fatalities per the NDRRMC. Of this figure, two have already been validated while 32 others are still undergoing validation. LTO waives traffic fines in calamity-stricken areas

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) announced Tuesday that it will waive the fines for traffic violations as well as for late vehicle registration and driver's license renewal in areas that were affected by the recent severe weather. In a statement, LTO Assistant Secretary Greg Pua Jr. signed a memorandum waiving the fines covering the weekly surcharge for late motor vehicle registration and driver's license renewal from July 21 to 25. 'Validity of the vehicle registration and driver's license within that period (July 21-25) are likewise extended to August 8, 2025,' citing the memorandum. Pua added that the settlement of fines for all traffic apprehension cases from July 21 to 25 will be extended until August 8. The LTO chief added that penalties for motor vehicles, including motorcycles, bought from July 21 to 25 this year which were not registered within the prescribed period will also be waived. Likewise, counting days on the Sales Invoice for vehicles bought under the same period will all start on August 8 of this year in order to avoid the penalty for late registration of new motor vehicles, Pua also said. Petron has suspended the increase in prices of automotive diesel oil in some areas amid inclement weather, according to Mao Dela Cruz's report on Super Radyo dzBB. Of this number, two have already been validated while 32 others are still for validation, the NDRRMC said in its 8 a.m. situational report. Eighteen were reported injured — 11 already validated and seven for validation. Meanwhile, seven were reported missing, with three already validated and four still for validation. The NDRRMC said the weather disturbances caused 30 landslides and brought flooding to 526 areas. Those affected numbered 1,857,171 families or 6,670,506 persons. Of this, 33,694 families or 113,646 persons stayed in evacuation centers while 21,299 families or 80,496 persons sought shelter outside evacuation centers. There were 586 road sections and 35 bridges damaged. Meanwhile, 15,220 houses were reported damaged in Region 1, Region 2, CAR, Region 3, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, Region 5, Region 6, NIR, Region 7, Region 9, Region 10, Region 11, Region 12, CARAGA, BARMM. Total agricultural damage was pegged at P1,678,196,474. 94. The NDRRMC said 50,772 farmers and fisherfolk were affected. Infrastructure damage was estimated at P7,355,928,557.34. The damage were reported in Region 1, Region 2, CAR, Region 3, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, Region 5, Region 6, NIR, Region 10.
