FOND DU LAC – New features on the Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Office website enhance community visibility into local bookings. According to Sheriff Ryan Waldschmidt, the website now includes a real-time inmate search function on the homepage. He said this provides information often requested to jail staff and increases transparency into the inmate population, the nature of their offenses and more. Starting at users can click the "Current Inmates" button and see a live jail roster of all adult inmates in custody at the Fond du Lac County Jail, as well as their judicial status. The website refreshes every 10 minutes to keep it up to date. A "Detail" button next to each name directs to a page listing applicable details, including a mugshot, bond amount, booking date, arresting agency, charges and a link to the Wisconsin Circuit Court Access Program (CCAP) for detailed court case information. New county jail: Fond du Lac County Jail has space & safety issues. Solutions could cost $267M or more. From May 4 to 10, the Fond du Lac County Board recognized "Correctional Employee Week," giving recognition to correctional deputies, nursing staff, kitchen staff, volunteers and the jail's two teachers. According to the sheriff's office, an average week working in the jail includes booking and processing 190 individuals, coordinating 496 visits between inmates and families, processing 70 releases, transporting 111 individuals for court appearances, and delivering about 900 meals and 1,000 different medications. Fond du Lac School District's April 1 referendum focus of information meeting Wednesday
FOND DU LAC – If you're looking for more information about the Fond du Lac School District referendum before voting April 1, a chance is coming up. The school district and Envision Greater Fond du Lac have partnered to host an information meeting on the referendum at 6 p.m. March 26 at the Lakeside Park Pavilion. The referendum question will read on ballots: "Shall the Fond du Lac School District, Fond du Lac County, Wisconsin be authorized to exceed the revenue limit specified in Section 121.91, Wisconsin Statutes, by $10,000,000 per year for four years, beginning with the 2025-2026 school year and ending with the 2028-2029 school year, for non-recurring purposes consisting of maintaining operations, maintenance expenses and providing for security upgrades in the District?" Appleton woman arrested in Fond du Lac County after I-41 pursuit reaches speeds of 120 mph
FOND DU LAC – An early morning police pursuit ended in the arrest of a 25-year-old Appleton woman in Fond du Lac County on March 13. According to the Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Office, Wisconsin State Patrol reported to the communications center around 3:30 a.m. Thursday that troopers were in pursuit of a vehicle southbound on Interstate 41 entering Winnebago County, with the suspect driving more than 100 miles per hour. That pursuit was terminated, but the vehicle continued south on the highway. Additional reports indicated the vehicle was still speeding on the highway and weaving in both lanes without being pursued by law enforcement, and the driver may be impaired. More news: Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Office to file charges on suspect that led 23-mile chase Deputies set up on the highway near the Fond du Lac and Winnebago County line, and one deputy found the suspect vehicle traveling at 110 mph and weaving in both lanes. The deputy followed with emergency lights and sirens, which the suspect ignored. As she continued, she reached speeds of 120 mph. The involved law enforcement agencies deployed Stop Stick tire deflation devices on the highway, including deputies at Townline Road and a trooper farther south. The suspect hit both and eventually stopped near County OO with three tires deflated. The woman was taken into custody without further incident. She was arrested on suspicion of felony fleeing and eluding and suspicion of operating while impaired, and she is being held at Fond du Lac County Jail. The pursuit lasted about 6.6 miles while in Fond du Lac County, and no injuries were reported as a result. Fond du Lac will see more snow through the weekend. Here's how much is forecast.
FOND DU LAC – With more snow in the forecast, Fond du Lac continues to condense its winter weather into the month of February. Another winter weather advisory from the National Weather Service will affect the area from 6 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Saturday. The Milwaukee/Sullivan NWS station anticipates a two- to four-hour "burst" of heavy snow with a possibility of up to an inch of snow accumulating per hour. This can cause slippery road conditions, reduced visibility and a risk of sliding off the road. Additionally, Saturday holds a high chance of snow throughout the day and into the evening. Sunday's chance of precipitation is 30%.
