In essence, Tracing Vanishing Trails is an investigation and exploration event instead of fighting-heavy ones. The storyline enumerates Yelan, the Liyue master of the intelligence world.
She offers players a one-of-a-kind gadget known as the Forensic Imaging Device, which helps locate hidden clues in different locations.

: From Campfires to Cargo Bombs
Stage 1: The First Clues
The journey begins by way of Yelan, who sends you to Cheyu Vale to investigate further. The three major evidence items, the campfire, wooden boat, and suspicious pit are found here. Using the Forensic Imaging Device, match the scene with the given records to find discrepancies.
Stage 2: Key Stronghold
Things heat up at the Stronghold. Players must identify four pieces of evidence: footsteps, a broken crate, a stone in a special room, and a lamp placed oddly in a tree. The imaging device is key here, guiding you to spot what doesn't belong.
Stage 3: Harbor Pier
By now, crates with mysterious markings begin appearing. These objects hold more secrets than they seem, and once scanned, reveal the trail of the Dark Financier's dealings.
One such clue involves a small boat with engraved symbols.

Stage 4: Dismantling the Threat
The pace shifts from detective work to direct action. Onboard a cargo ship, five hidden bombs must be dismantled. Unlike earlier stages, no imaging device is needed, the bombs are marked in your case records and can be identified by their yellow markers. This stage ups the tension, making quick observation your best ally.
