Driver hospitalized after truck hits utility pole during rollover crash
A woman is recovering after her truck hit a utility pole during a rollover crash in Darke County. [DOWNLOAD: Free WHIO-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] Deputies and medics responded at 12:49 p.m. on Wednesday to the 1700 block of State Route 49 on reports of a single-vehicle crash, according to a sheriff's spokesperson. She lost control of her truck and went off the left side of the road, hitting a utility pole. The spokesperson said that the truck rolled onto its side and came to a rest in a ditch. 18-year-old, juvenile hospitalized after crash involving a semi in Darke County
Two people were taken to the hospital after a crash involving a semi in Darke County Friday evening. [DOWNLOAD: Free WHIO-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] Just before 5 p.m., crews were dispatched to the intersection of US Route 36 and Jaysville-St. John's Road on reports of a two-vehicle accident. TRENDING STORIES: OSHP IDs person hit, killed by car in Clark County while fixing tire Huber Heights concert venue announces 2025 season lineup 1 person hospitalized after shooting in Dayton The preliminary investigation revealed a semi tractor-trailer driven by 37-year-old Mohamed Abdela of Dallas, Texas, was stopped at the posted stop sign southbound on Jaysville-St. Johns Road at US Route 36. Abdela failed to yield the right of way to a pickup driven by 18-year-old John Troxel of Bradford heading westbound. Troxel then struck the driver's side rear of the semi. He and his female juvenile passenger were taken to Wayne HealthCare with minor injuries. ‘This community is strong;' Residents recount Greenville tornado, recovery one year later
A tornado tore through Darke County a year ago. Jordan Bradford who lives in Greenville remembers the tornado like it was yesterday. It was different. And then everything just started to swirl,' Bradford said. 'Then the next thing you know, the hail started to come in the rain, and that's when we went back inside. But it was, it was scary.' Bradford says they were one of the lucky ones. The tornado missed his house, but it did damage his boss's home. Fred Foutz says the tornado sounded like a train as it passed over his home, and that he's shocked it came so close. 'That's the first one that I remember as long as I lived here, like I said, I grew up around here,' Foutz said. May 7th was the official one-year anniversary of the tornado. Mayor Jeff Whitaker says the city is still rebuilding. Greenville is working with an urban forester to figure out where to replant trees. The community raised $130,000 for this project. Foutz has been impressed by the community's response. 'I was really surprised, but this community is strong,' Foutz said. The tree planting process is scheduled to begin this fall.
