Darryl Rivers gives Josh Heupel, Tennessee football eight 2026 commits in eight days
Defensive lineman Darryl Rivers committed to Tennessee football as the eighth recruit to pledge to the Vols' 2026 class during an eight-day spurt.
On July 4, Rivers announced his decision on X. He chose the Vols over Mississippi State, Georgia Tech and Rutgers among at least 20 FBS scholarship offers.
Rivers is a 6-foot-5, 270-pounder at McEachern High from Powder Springs, Georgia.

He is rated a three-star prospect. He is ranked the No. 71 defensive lineman and No. 630 prospect overall in the 2026 class, according to 247Sports Composite.
UT's recruitment of Rivers accelerated over the past two months. The Vols offered him a scholarship on May 8 and hosted him on an official visit on June 20.

Rivers is Tennessee's eighth commitment since June 27.
UT now has 17 commitments in the 2026 recruiting class, led by five-star quarterback Faizon Brandon.
Defensive lineman Dereon Albert, edge rusher Zach Groves, wide receiver Tyreek King, offensive tackle Gabriel Osenda, tight end Carson Sneed and linebacker TJ White committed to the Vols. They are rated four stars by 247Sports Composite.

The class also includes cornerback Zay Anderson, offensive lineman Edward Baker, athlete Legend Bey, edge rusher CJ Edwards, edge rusher Kedric Golston, safety KJ McClain, safety Luke Thompson, linebacker Braylon Outlaw and cornerback Jamyan Theodore. They are rated three stars.
