SI caught taking bribe in Anakapalli
Visakhapatnam: The anti-corruption bureau (ACB) officials arrested Dasari Eswara Rao, sub-inspector (SI) of police at Anakapalli town police station for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000 from the complainant.
The ACB officials said one SRJ Appa Rao, a gold merchant, let out his vacant shop to another person in May this year. However, the other person tried to steal gold ornaments from the neighboring shop by making a hole into the wall of his hired shop. Appa Rao locked the shop he let out and handed over the keys to the police. The accused sub-inspector demanded Rs 50,000 from Appa Rao for returning the keys and not indict him in the case.
