Impaired driver arrested after deploying tire deflation device: RCMP

An impaired driver who refused to stop has been detained by Dauphin RCMP after deploying a tire deflation device. RCMP said at approximately 6 a.m. on June 29, a report was received of a vehicle driving erratically on Highway 10. Officers located the vehicle and attempted to safely pull the vehicle over, though the driver refused to stop. RCMP said the vehicle was travelling at a 'high rate of speed' and nearly caused a collision with an oncoming vehicle. A tire deflation device was deployed, and upon stopping, the driver refused to exit the vehicle, prompting officers to extract the driver. A 20-year-old man from Yorkton, Sask. was arrested and faces several charges, including operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration over 80 mg, resisting a peace officer and driving carelessly. He was also charged with driving an unregistered vehicle and driving without motor vehicle liability insurance. None of the charges have been proven in court.
