Dave Bautista wants to be more than 'just a movie star'
Dave Bautista "never wanted to be just a movie star". The former WWE legend has swapped wrestling for Hollywood with roles in the likes of 'Guardians of the Galaxy', 'Knock at the Cabin' and 'The Killing Game', and he insisted his movie choices are inspired more by challenging himself as an actor than earning the most money. He told Sports Illustrated: "I never wanted to be just a movie star or chase a paycheque. 'I wanted to prove I could stand on stage with the best actors in the world and hold my own. That's what drives me.' He didn't want to follow in the footsteps of fellow WWE alumni John Cena and Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson by simply embracing the "action movie star" tropes. He explained: "I didn't want to just step away from wrestling and become another action movie star. "I wanted to prove I could be an actor. I wanted to be respected by my peers, just like I was in wrestling. "Respect has always meant more to me than accolades... In wrestling, the respect I earned from people like The Undertaker, Triple H, and Eddie Guerrero meant everything to me. "It's the same in Hollywood. I want to feel like I deserve to be here, that I've earned my place among the best.' And now, the former 'James Bond' star is keen to take his love for storytelling behind the camera with producting, while directing is a long term goal. He said: "As an actor, I love telling stories. That passion has transitioned into producing. I want to be involved in creating stories, not just performing them. "I want to make meaningful films, ones that connect with people... Being a producer means I can shape the stories I want to tell. "It's about more than being in front of the camera; it's about contributing to the art as a whole.' The 'Dune' actor previously opened up on how he hopes his star keeps ascending in order for him to "make smaller films". Bautista told The Hollywood Reporter: "It's funny, I want to be a bigger star so I can make smaller films, that's my goal. "Those are the films I love. But the fastest route to that is being a commodity; if you're a big star, you're a commodity. "So that's the thing – people are willing to listen to you, they're willing to hear you out if you can bring something to the table, and you bring something to the table when you're a big star. "So I'm hoping to grow my name and become enough of a star where I can make smaller independent films."

Paramount Delays The Last Airbender And Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Sequels
Fans hoping to catch The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender on the big screen will have to wait a little longer — Paramount Pictures has pushed the animated sequel's release from 30 January to 9 October 2026. The highly anticipated film will feature the voices of household names Dave Bautista, Steven Yeun, and Eric Nam. Picking up years after the original series, which followed then-12-year-old Aang — a long-lost Avatar who learned to master the elements and save the globe from the ruthless Fire Nation, the sequel promises to bring Aang's next adventure to life, with Lauren Montgomery in the director's chair. It's not the only shake-up on the calendar. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem 2 is also sliding back — originally set for 9 October 2026, your favourite green-shelled heroes will now return a year later on 17 September 2027. The sequel, produced by Point Grey Pictures and helmed by Jeff Rowe, will be joined by a two-season 'Tales of The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' series on Paramount+ to tide fans over. But it's not all doom and gloom — Paw Patrol: The Dino Movie is moving up, now set to hit theatres a week earlier, on 24 July 2026. The star-studded voice cast includes Jameela Jamil, Terry Crews, Paris Hilton, Snoop Dogg, Bill Nye, and more, with familiar pups Rubble, Zuma, and the gang ready for another dino-sized adventure. Everything changed when his parents bought him a PlayStation 2 for Christmas. Since then, he's been hooked on all things esports, video games, and music. If he's not livestreaming his shenanigans, he's probably out taking mirror-selfies with his friends, vigorously debating over the Internet's Meme of the Year.

Rated R, The Last Showgirl opened in theaters on Jan. 10 The official summary for The Last Showgirl reads, 'When the glittering Las Vegas revue she has headlined for decades announces it will soon close, a glamorous showgirl must reconcile with the decisions she's made and the community she has built as she plans her next act. 'The Last Showgirl, a poignant film of resilience, rhinestones and feathers, stars Pamela Anderson as Shelly, a glamorous showgirl who must plan for her future when her show abruptly closes after a 30-year run.' The film also stars Dave Bautista as Steve, the show's producer who informs Shelly that her longtime gig is coming to an end. The Last Showgirl is directed by Gia Coppola from a script by Kate Gersten. In a January interview with ABC's Good Morning America in early January before the film's theatrical release, Coppola said Pamela Anderson's similarities to Shelly in The Last Showgirl made her the ideal person to star in the role. "These were both women that no matter what hurdles they faced in life, that they were always optimistic and always found joy," Coppola told GMA. "And then I saw that there [were] enough dissimilarities that the role would be intriguing for her as an actress." "She could take all of the things that she had to draw from in her life -- all of the things that I think really make her a true artist,' Coppola added. 'She's a beautiful writer, she's a lover of old, classical cinema, she's extremely well read with plays and philosophy -- so all that intelligence was some place that she could put into this character and I could collaborate with." Critics widely praised Anderson's performance in The Last Showgirl. The film earned an 83% 'fresh' rating from Rotten Tomatoes critics based on 226 reviews and a Critics Consensus that reads, 'A wistful showcase for Pamela Anderson in a refreshingly dramatic role, The Last Showgirl pays homage to the working class of Las Vegas with a superb collection of performances.' In addition, audiences gave The Last Showgirl a 72% 'fresh' Popcornmeter score on RT based on 500-plus verified user ratings. While Anderson fell short in her bid for a Best Actress Oscar nomination for The Last Showgirl, she earned nods in the category from the likes of the Screen Actors Guild Awards and the Golden Globes (Drama). The Last Showgirl, starring Pamela Anderson, arrives on Hulu on Friday.

The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender gets hit with its second delay
When the world needed him most, he got delayed once again. Paramount Pictures announced the second delay for The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender , the upcoming movie that follows the journey of Aang and Team Avatar after the events of the beloved animated series that was released in 2005. Instead of January 30, 2026, the new film will make its way to movie theaters on October 9, 2026, as first reported by Variety . Paramount Pictures didn't provide a reason for the delay, but this setback follows a previous postponing that bumped it from its original release date on October 10, 2025. However, there are no changes to the already-announced cast and crew, which includes Dave Bautista, Steven Yuen and Eric Nam, with Lauren Montgomery and William Mata as co-directors. This delay could be good news, though. Paramount Pictures also revealed that it's pushing back the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem 2 sequel from its October 9, 2026 opening date to September 17, 2027. This move frees up the slot for The Legend of Aang to make a fall release, which could attract more attention than being premiered in January. To keep us from breaking out the pitchforks, the film studio at least revealed the new logo for the film on its Instagram. If you're itching for Avatar content, Netflix renewed its live-action version of Avatar: The Last Airbender for two more seasons, the next of which is expected to release in early 2026. If you're only interested in new material, the next avatar is expected to make her debut in 2027 in a series titled Avatar: Seven Havens .

Legend of Aang delayed to October 2026 as TMNT sequel moves to 2027
Paramount Pictures has shifted its release schedule for several major animated films. The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender, the highly anticipated follow-up to the beloved Avatar: The Last Airbender series, will now debut on October 9, 2026, instead of the originally planned January 30 date. The film will feature voice talents Dave Bautista, Steven Yeun, and Eric Nam, with Lauren Montgomery and William Mata directing. The animated feature takes place years after the 2005 Nickelodeon series, which followed Aang, a 12-year-old Avatar mastering all four elements to save the world from the Fire Nation. The delay is expected to give more time for post-production and enhance fan expectations. Meanwhile, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem 2 has also been delayed. Previously slated for October 9, 2026, it will now hit theaters on September 17, 2027. Directed by Jeff Rowe and produced by Point Grey Pictures, the sequel follows the success of 2023's Mutant Mayhem. To bridge the two films, a spinoff series titled Tales of The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will launch on Paramount+, with original voice actors Micah Abbey, Shamon Brown Jr., Nicolas Cantu, and Brady Noon returning. On a more positive scheduling note, Paw Patrol: The Dino Movie will now release one week earlier, on July 24, 2026. The voice cast includes Jameela Jamil, Terry Crews, Paris Hilton, Snoop Dogg, and Bill Nye. The film is produced by Spin Master Entertainment and Nickelodeon Movies. These changes reflect Paramount's evolving animation strategy and the growing demand for expanded universes in family-friendly franchises.
