Ex-England Player Slams Time-Wasting At Lord's: 'Might As Well Get A Thai Massage'

David 'Bumble' Lloyd criticized India and England for time-wasting at Lord's, suggesting their batters might as well get a Thai massage.
Former England player David 'Bumble' Lloyd has slammed India and the hosts' constant time-wasting at Lord's. He said that batters are getting too many back massages during the play, taunting that they 'might as well get a proper Thai massage' with music and celebrities around to entertain the crowd.
Time-wasting has been the phrase of the Test. The first two overs barely saw 80 overs completed due to sluggish, lazy over-rates from both teams. On the third day, Zak Crawley clearly did a bit of gamesmanship to avoid facing more than one over before Stumps and India and Akash Deep did the same on the fourth.
Then, there were actual injuries and fitness needs of players, all of which filled the game with several small breaks.
'The back massage for the batter is more popular than ever," Lloyd wrote in his column for The Daily Mail. 'They might as well get a proper Thai massage. Get the rose petals out and the soothing water sounds on. During the interlude, the Irish Guards can get a full circuit in with their selection of Sousa Marches. Failing that, Mick Jagger's bound to be there so he can entertain like Cliff Richards at Wimbledon. That would be far more entertaining than two overs of cricket. Or in the case of Zak Crawley, just the one," he added.
'To further avoid the embarrassment of time-wasting for all concerned, it should be a rule that you must bowl 15 overs in the last hour of the day. No ifs or buts. The regulations that are in place on day five should apply every day. And there's no point India rocking about because they're as guilty as anybody when it comes to time-wasting," he added.
