From New Zealand to new sights: April's must-read list
Strangers in Time by David Baldacci (Macmillan) is a change from this author's normal novels, being an historical fiction piece, but is no less gripping than any of his other books says our reviewer. Set in WW 2, during the Blitz in London, three people accidentally become engaged with one another… and each has secrets. Molly's father is a wanted man who has disappeared, Charlie is orphaned and living on his wits and the brilliantly named Ignatius Oliver who runs a bookshop appears to be passing information to an enemy agent. The danger and fear of death is pervasively detailed and the book evokes what it must really have been like to survive in such dreadful circumstances.
