'Nervous' The Repair Shop guest gasps 'I don't know what to say' as prized item dubbed 'part of the family' is totally transformed

A guest on The Repair Shop revealed she was speechless as a prized item dubbed 'part of the family' was totally transformed. Husband and wife David and Carol, from Wales, brought along a huge soft toy hound dog to be restored in Tuesday's episode of the show. The couple explained that the 53-year-old toy had been gifted to the UK Elvis Presley fan club by Elvis' manager, Colonel Tom Parker, as a thank you for travelling to see the star in Las Vegas. The fan club looked after the toy for sometime before a fan won it in a competition - however she tragically passed away earlier this year. David and Carol said the former owner wanted the hound dog to be passed on to other fans of Elvis so they brought it to The Repair Shop to 'give him his pedigree back'. Toy restorers Amanda Middleditch and Julie Tatchell were tasked with bringing the hound dog back to its former glory. Amanda and Julie got to work and quickly realised there was much to be done, from torn fabric and shoddy repairs to its wooden beam sticking out of the top. They added patches to the weaker areas and relined the fabric to strengthen the toy, as well as reshaping the top of its head. After the duo had fixed u the dog, Carol and David returned and were eager to see the results. Carol shared her love for the giant cuddly hound toy but expressed nerves at whether it could be fixed as it had been on display for decades and was in a 'bad state of repair'. Her husband David added: 'We've become very fond of him, he's become part of our family. 'But, he's also part of the Elvis family, because of how important he is to Elvis fans. I'm just so looking forward to seeing him.' Amanda and Julie then unveiled the dog and both Carol and David gasped in delight. 'Oh my! He's wonderful, and he's taller!' Carol declared as Amanda and Julie unveiled the revived dog toy. 'Oh my! He's wonderful, and he's taller!' Carol declared as Amanda and Julie unveiled the revived dog toy 'I just want to hug him,' Carol added, with David saying: 'I don't know what to say, I'm just so grateful.' David went on to reveal that the hound dog will be taken around the UK on a tour to raise money for charity. 'We are just astounded that Julie and Amanda took on such a big project, Carol said. Her husband added: 'He'll be seen by so many thousands, tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands I hope.' Carol continued: 'Now he's back as he was in 1972.' 'Wow! Kept it a bedroom for 35 years! What a wonderful thing to have❤️,'; 'Oh wow, love this xx,';
