The Macallan unveils 'striking new identity' for core range whiskies
Fans of The Macallan may notice something new about this in-demand brand, as the core range - Double Cask, Sherry Oak, and the Colour Collection - have a bold new look. The team worked with long-term collaborator David Carson on the designs and creative director at The Macallan Jaume Ferras told us more. Tell us about how and why the new designs came about? The Macallan reimagines the visual identity of its Timeless Collections to honour its rich heritage while embracing a forward-thinking vision. This new design, crafted in partnership with the renowned graphic designer David Carson – a long-standing collaborator for us – truly honours our rich heritage while embracing a forward-thinking vision. It's a celebration of the exceptional craftsmanship, creativity, and artistry that defines every single malt Scotch whisky we create. How do they offer a refreshed, modern perspective and vision for the future for the brand? The Macallan has never stood still and never will. Our refreshed identity is a heartfelt tribute to The Macallan's rich heritage, while powerfully embodying our ongoing commitment to innovation. Every detail in the new design thoughtfully connects our whisky's origins with its future, truly reinforcing our dedication to unparalleled craftsmanship and captivating storytelling. Tell us about the distillery-inspired bottle to symbols that decode cask influence and the crucial Sherry Triangle connection? How important was it to include these references? You'll see this directly in the new bottle's distinctive shape, which was inspired by the sweeping green roof of The Macallan Distillery itself, forging an immediate link to our Estate. Even the triangular shoulder label serves a dual purpose: it beautifully bridges our new Collections with our past, and, crucially, it represents Spain's Sherry Triangle – that famed Andalusian region, the very source of the exceptional sherry seasoned oak casks that give all three The Macallan Collections their entirely natural colour and incredible flavour. The rear label designs incorporate a new cask type symbol, to highlight the contribution of flavour and aroma imbued from American and European oak casks. How do these designs reflect past design work from Carson? We collaborated with David Carson because his bold, intuitive design approach reflects The Macallan's dedication to craftsmanship and creativity. Having previously worked together, David deeply understands The Macallan's heritage and connection to nature, making him the perfect choice to visually reimagine the Timeless Collections. Do you foresee the older designs now becoming collectors items? First and foremost, we craft our single malt to be enjoyed, and recognise that, while the majority of The Macallan releases are consumed, some individuals derive their enjoyment from collecting The Macallan for the future. It does not need to be mutually exclusive at all, we have found that consumers of The Macallan can purchase our single malt for many reasons: to open and consume; through an interest in investment; collecting because of a passion for the brand or to build-up a whisky collection to take personal pride in for years to come. Gifting is also a strong purchase-driver in many parts of the world. Any more future plans you can tell us about? We have a number of exciting initiatives in the pipeline As The Macallan steps into its 201st year, we look back on two centuries of unparalleled craftsmanship and innovation with immense pride. This isn't just an anniversary; it's a launchpad for the future, with even more extraordinary stories and expressions yet to emerge from The Macallan Estate in the next 200 years.

Carson returns to Darley Cup action on Sunday with a bit of work to do
Carson returns to Darley Cup action on Sunday with a bit of work to do DAVID Carson has a bit of catching up to do when the third and fourth rounds of the Darley Cup take place in the second Darley Moor Motor Cycle Road Race Club meeting of the season takes place on Sunday. The Northwich rider finished third on the leaderboard after the first two rounds near Ashbourne in April. Josh Froggatt (Worksop) claimed a start-finish victory in the morning's race, leaving Carson trying to reduce the gap to David Glossop (Wilmslow) for second place. ADVERTISEMENT Advertisement From the end of the first lap the pair were circulating within one second of each other. On the final lap Carson found a better route through the backmarkers and was almost able to pip Glossop at the flag, however Glossop's advantage at the end was reduced to just 0.09secs. The second race may have played out the same way but on this occasion Benjamin Dale (Warrington) joined the starting grid and while Froggatt was at the front from the opening lap, the gap between him and Dale fluctuated between 1.2secs and 0.17secs. At the start of the penultimate lap Dale was 0.8secs behind the leader, but once again backmarkers seemed to play their part and Dale turned the 'tables' on his rival, finishing with a 0.8secs advantage over Froggatt. Trucking company surpasses major industry milestone with all-electric semi-truck fleet: 'Leading the way'
Schneider National exemplifies the positive impact of electric vehicles as its semi truck fleet passes the 6 million mile mark. Electrek reported that Schneider reached this epic milestone one year after hitting the 1 million mile benchmark. The company mainly operates in Southern California. It has over 130 semi trucks in operation. California's JETSI mainly funds the fleet. The EPA's FY18 Targeted Airshed Grant, Volkswagen Environmental Mitigation Trust, and California's HVIP incentive program also support the fleet. Many doubted these battery-electric trucks. But this huge achievement proves doubters wrong. According to Electrek, Schneider began its EV mission around 2020. Reaching 6 million electric miles after only five years is remarkable. The fleet prevented roughly 20 million pounds of harmful carbon pollution from being created. That's like if 2,100 gas-powered car owners stopped driving altogether, as noted by Electrek. These electric trucks lower operating and ownership costs, which means more affordable transportation. This can help businesses and consumers save money on goods. Electric semi trucks are also better for other drivers on the road. They're safer and less likely to cause an accident. Their low center of gravity reduces the risk of rollovers. Plus, they're quieter, reducing noise in residential areas. These trucks also benefit the environment. They substantially reduce transportation pollution. This improves air quality for everyone while creating a cooler planet. Reaching 6 million miles is a triumph for the EV industry. It shows the feasibility of switching from gas to electric. Reducing and even eliminating transportation pollution is possible. If these trucks are used nationwide, dangerous pollution could be reduced by millions and millions of pounds. David Carson, senior vice president of sales and marketing at Daimler Truck North America, expressed pride over Schneider's success to Electrek. He called it "a reminder for us all to keep working on overcoming challenges together on the path to zero emissions." If you were going to purchase an EV, which of these factors would be most important to you? Cost Battery range Power and speed The way it looks Click your choice to see results and speak your mind. Schneider President and CEO Mark Rourke highlighted the company's commitment to EVs. He called the milestone "a testament to our steadfast dedication." Rourke continued, "Leading the way in adopting electric vehicle technology not only benefits the environment but also serves as an example of the broad service capabilities and flexibility we can offer to customers."
