ATTACK OF THE KILLER TOMATOES: ORGANIC INTELIGENCE - The Cult Classic Mutates Again — GeekTyrant
Some franchises never die. They just ferment into something stranger. The absurd, acidic legacy of Attack of the Killer Tomatoes is sprouting a new chapter with Attack of the Killer Tomatoes: Organic Intelligence , the fifth film in the killer produce saga, this time under the direction of David Ferino ( Wardcliffe, Nocturnally Yours ). The killer tomatoes are back. But this time, they've evolved into something smart. According to the official description, the movie pits 'the eternal power of nature against AI's best and brightest.' It's the age-old struggle between the organic and the algorithmic, with a side of pulp and satire. Ferino was roped into this chaos by original creators Costa Dillon and J. Stephen Peace, who are back as executive producers and co-writers. Peace said, 'We are just going to keep trying until we get it right.' Ferino added, 'This is nuts, I have to work with these guys.' As Dillon put it, 'This time, they're not just back. They're organically intelligent.' The series stars David Koechner ( Anchorman ) plays the President's Press Secretary, while genre icon John Astin ( The Addams Family ) returns as the scheming Professor Mortimer Gangreen. Other cast members include Dan Bakkedahl ( Veep ) as Finletter, Daniel Roebuck ( The Munsters ) as a truth-burying admiral, and Catherine Corcoran ( Terrifier ) as the first to fall victim to the new tomato uprising. There's also Samantha Bailey as Kate Patel, a genius tech CEO who invents 'MyTomato,' the so-called 'O.I.' solution for AI's shortcomings. It also includes Paul Bates, Vernee Watson, Eric Roberts, Noor Razooky, and social media chaos courtesy of Joshua Poon's 'The Influencer.' This is the franchise that gave us George Clooney in Return of the Killer Tomatoes , three sequels, and a Saturday morning cartoon. Shot entirely in Southern California in L.A., Long Beach, and San Diego, the movie is backed by W. Finletter Films, Killer Tomatoes Entertainment, Atomic Toybox, and IVC/Olas Media. Distribution is handled by Anchor Bay Entertainment, the same team behind the puppet-horror oddity Abruptio. Thomas Zambeck, CEO of Anchor Bay, said: 'Organic Intelligence is fresh, funny, weird, and self-aware — just the kind of beautifully chaotic project that fits our mission. Killer Tomatoes are ripe for reinvention.' Expect a limited theatrical release this Halloween.
