The funnyman who is best known for his unforgettable sketch characters and catchphrases is currently performing in Arena shows of Les Mis in Sydney and Melbourne. From a foul-mouthed schoolgirl to a Welsh homosexual there are no ends to his acting talents, not to mention appearances in Hollywood blockbusters Gladiator 2 and Bridesmaids. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the Daily Mail's new Showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. Of course, it's none other than Matt Lucas, 51, who is best known for his creating and starring in Little Britain alongside David Walliams, 53. Little Britain - which aired on BBC Three and One - had 44 episodes, which aired over three seasons between 2003 and 2006. In February, the pair reunited for a new podcast Making A Scene, 15-years after they rounded off their sole season of Come Fly With Me - a mockumentary about a fictional airport and airlines. Earlier this month Matt, who is playing Monsieur Thénardier in the musical, was replaced mid-performance by his co-star Connor Jones after experiencing health issues on stage. Taking to Instagram he explaining that he had to bow out after feeling his voice 'deserting' him mid-performance. He wrote: 'I've been having a magical time in Les Miserables in arenas in Sydney and Melbourne. He continued: 'In over 30 years I've never had to bow out during a performance but tonight, as I was singer Master Of The House, I could feel my voice deserting me, 'So if Thenardier looked very different in Act 2, that was because the amazing Connor Jones took over. Matt, who is playing Monsieur Thénardier in the musical, looked worlds away from his usual self Matt reassured fans that he is now resting and hopes to return to the stage soon, adding: 'I'm now in bed resting up, and hope to be back on stage soon.' The tour began in Sydney last month and continues in Melbourne through May 25, before moving to Brisbane for five shows. The Australian leg is a limited five-week engagement celebrating the 40th anniversary of the original London production. It comes after David and Matt teased an epic Little Britain revival during a live appearance on Lorraine earlier this year. The two, who created and starred in the BBC comedy series, chatted with Lorraine Kelly, 65, on the ITV show about their new podcast. During their appearance on the morning talk show, Lorraine was desperate to know if the programme would ever make a return, after it was pulled from BBC iPlayer, Netflix and BritBox in June 2020. David said: 'Would you like to see it? We'll do it especially for you.' Matt added: 'If we were to do it again, maybe on stage, or something like that. 'We did a tour 20 years ago, it was great fun, I think that would be a good way to do it again.' He wrote: 'In over 30 years I've never had to bow out during a performance but tonight, as I was singer Master Of The House, I could feel my voice deserting me' Earlier on in the interview Lorraine told the stars: 'Little Britain has had a new lease of life on TikTok. There is a whole new generation getting it, laughing.' David replied: 'Well my son is 11. Everyone at his school is talking about it. As you rightly said, TikTok, people are sharing on TikTok. 'It's a whole new generation discovering it. I think those social media things are great for one/two minute clips.' Lorraine confessed that she remembered when she was watching it that George Michael and Elton John appeared on the series. Lorraine said: 'Some of it is a bit you'd get into trouble if you did that now. But a hell of a lot of it is still as funny as it ever was. If you don't want to watch it, don't watch it.' David confessed: 'I don't know about you, but someone says every day is there going to be more Little Britain. 'Every day someone comes up to me in the street.'

Ben Shephard barks 'its not steroids!' as David Walliams takes OUTRAGEOUS swipe at his topless magazine shoot live on This Morning

Ben Shephard barked back at David Walliams as he took a swipe at his topless magazine shoot live on This Morning. Tuesday's instalment of the ITV show saw the TV star, 53, chat to hosts Ben, 50, and Cat Deeley, 48, about his brand new book The World's Worst Superheroes. The pair were keen to find out about the characters in the novel, including one called Super Dave. Ben said to the comedian: 'Some of them are made up and some of them are real... so tell us about actual Super Dave?' David jokingly said: 'Well Super Dave is a bit like Ben Shephard but without the steroids.' The comment made Ben and Cat burst into laughter. Ben sternly told him: 'It's not steroids, David.' The camera then panned in on David cracking up as his own joke. Ben added: 'It's just protein.' David said: 'Protein shakes, that was it.' It comes after presenter Ben showed off his rippling muscles for a striking Men's Health UK cover on Tuesday. The This Morning presenter looked incredible as he posed shirtless in the snaps which revealed his impressive abs. During the accompanying interview Ben spoke about how it felt to pose for the magazine again for the first time since 2012 and how his body and understanding of health and fitness has changed in that time. He also touched on the way he views life at 50, working out with his two sons, and his ambition to do another shoot when he turns 60. In one shot he wore just navy shorts as he fixed the camera with a stare, while for others he carried various weights to show off his strength. Speaking about recreating a similar shoot to the one he did for Men's Health in 2012, he said: 'Recreating the cover shoot has been fantastic. 'A friend asked me what the one exercise was that made the biggest difference. It's not an exercise, it's consistency.' Speaking on how he approaches fitness now he added: 'It came a little easier this time… 'I have a deeper understanding of what I have to put myself through to build lean muscle and reduce body fat. 'To get stronger, physically and mentally, is definitely harder the older you get. In my forties, I was still on the attack. In my fifties, I'm on the defensive. 'It's all about how I prolong things now – not going out and smashing it left, right and centre. 'Proving to yourself you have the discipline to do something, proving you can be accountable to yourself is incredibly seductive and infectious. The more you get of that, the more you want it.' He also spoke about whether he would be do another shoot for the publication in another decade when he is 60. Ben gushed: 'I love the idea of doing a shoot again at the age of 60. There are loads of fitness influencers that aren't just in their twenties and thirties, but in their fifties, sixties and seventies – still doing it, still living, still owning it, still looking fantastic. 'I find that incredibly inspiring. 'I've followed Men's Health religiously for the past 12 years. I will carry on following it, as well. 'There might be a bit more grey in the hair now, but the hairline is still there. 'So why not do it again at 60?' The full interview is available in the June issue of Men's Health UK, on sale now.

Eurovision hopeful and BGT child star looks unrecognisable 12 years after talent show fame

A FORMER Eurovision hopeful and Britain's Got Talent child star looks practically unrecognisable. The singer first found fame 12 years ago on the ITV variety talent competition. 4 Asanda Jezile, 23, first found fame on the seventh series of Britain's Got Talent back in 2013. She impressed Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and David Walliams when she belted out Diamonds by Rihanna at her first audition. After performing Beyonce 's hit Halo in the live semi-finals, she was sent through to the final by the judges. When she sang, If I Were A Boy in the final, the judges all praised her skill at the time, as Alesha remarked: "You have one of the nicest tones to your voice and I can't wait to hear your album." 12 years later, she's very much still singing as she regularly posts to her Instagram account. The bangs are very much in the past for the former child star as she now sports a more sophisticated and commercial look. She very much proves that she is now all grown up as she often wears skin-tight dresses or skimpy two-piece bikinis. Back in 2018, Asanda competed in the BBC talent competition, Eurovision: You Decide. The winner of the contest would go on to represent the United Kingdom at the Eurovision Song Contest in Lisbon that year. On the show, she performed her R&B track Legends and her performance received acclaim from fans. Britain's Got Talent's rarely seen child star Asanda Jezilie is unrecognisable eight years after wowing judges aged 11 Viewers flooded the comments section from the video of her performance on YouTube to praise Asanda for her skill. One fan gushed: "The career that this girl hasn't had yet is heartbreaking. She deserves so much more success than she has gotten. A second stated: Omg god, this song is so amazing. Why have not they made Asanda happen yet? This girl is very talented. "With a bit of a coaching / mentoring and help with her breath control, she could have absolutely slayed with this," noted a third. While a fourth exclaimed: "What an incredible performance! Captivating from the beginning and literally the only song on that night that didn't sound like a complete cliché." And a fifth added: "Gorgeous and so very talented. You deserve the greatest success beautiful young lady." 4 4
