50 cats, 22 dogs found living in neglect at 2 Kentucky homes
DAVIESS COUNTY, Ky. (FOX 56) — The Daviess County Sheriff's Office is investigating a pair of animal cruelty cases after roughly 50 cats were found covered in feces and urine on Monday. ACOs described the home as 'unsanitary' and riddled with animal feces and urine. In the release, officials said the cats were showing signs of neglect, and some were near death. The cats were taken to It Takes A Village animal rescue in Owensboro for treatment. The animal rescue took to Facebook to ask for donations, foster homes, and possible cat adoption. DCSO said the homeowners were charged with second-degree cruelty to animals. According to the release, 22 dogs lived in unsanitary conditions at the Sycamore Street home. Read more of the latest Kentucky news Investigators claimed that the dogs were showing signs of neglect, and the area wasn't large enough for that many dogs. In the press release, the sheriff's office claimed the homeowner was issued a criminal summons concerning a previous animal cruelty investigation. Washington teen killed while repairing pick-up truck on Saturday night
DAVIESS COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A Washington teen was killed following an auto-repair accident on Saturday night. According to the Daviess County Sheriff's Office, dispatch received a call just after 9 p.m. of report of a male pinned under a vehicle near 2094 W 300 N in Washington. Upon arrival, authorities located a male pinned beneath a full-size Ford F350 truck. A nearby forklift was used to lift the vehicle to remove the victim from underneath. The victim was identified as 16-year-old Cooper Schuckman of Washington. The victim's family has been notified. Initial investigation determines Schuckman, and a friend were working on the vehicle that was jacked up on two air jacks. While attempting to remove a part from the vehicle, the weight shifted, and the vehicle fell off the jacks and onto the victim. The Daviess County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Washington Township Volunteer Fire Department, the Daviess County Ambulance Service and the Daviess County Coroner's Office. Speeding 2x over limit leads to chase, arrest in Owensboro
HENDERSON, Ky (WEHT) – An Owensboro man is facing charges after authorities say he was caught speeding 2x over the limit with drugs in the car during arrest. The Daviess County Sheriff's Office says on Wednesday, at about 11 p.m., a deputy was patrolling in the 2900 block of Old Hartford Road when he saw a 2016 Cadillac CTS going 74 MPH in a 35 MPH zone. While trying to stop the vehicle, officials state the driver continued to flee and was throwing items from the vehicle and eventually stopped in the 4300 block of Old Hartford. The driver, identified as 20-year-old Trevor Aull, was taken into custody. Officials say deputies found marijuana, paraphernalia and a large amount of U.S. currency in the vehicle and on Aull. Spreader truck runs over and kills one in Daviess County
DAVIESS COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A 77-year-old man is dead after spreader truck ran off the roadway and struck the individual in Daviess County on Friday night. According to the Daviess County Sheriff's Office, dispatchers received a call around 5:00 p.m. on Friday to a report of an accident involving a spreader truck near State Road 57 near Crestwood Drive. Upon arrival, authorities determined Dennis P. Toy (68) was traveling northbound on State Road 57 and for unknown reasons, went off the roadway in his John Deer 800R. The spreader then ran over and entrapped an individual who was later identified as Daniel J. Ritterskamp (77). The John Deer 800R struck multiple trees before coming to a resting stop. Mr. Ritterskamp was pronounced dead at the scene. The Daviess County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Washington Township Fire, Daviess County Coroner's Office, Daviess Community Hospital Ambulance Service, Washington City Fire, Washington City Police, and Briggeman's Towing. Assault, Owensboro police chase lead to arrest of AWOL California man
OWENSBORO, Ky. (FOX 56) — A California man accused of deserting the U.S. Navy was arrested Wednesday morning in western Kentucky. The Daviess County Sheriff's Office announced on May 15 that Christian Crite, 18, was arrested after an overnight police chase in connection with a reported assault. By the time authorities arrived, Crite was said to have already fled. The woman was taken to the Owensboro Health Regional Hospital to be treated for her injuries. The sheriff's office confirmed it was already familiar with the address after the U.S. Navy asked deputies to check in on Crite, who had an active warrant for desertion. Owensboro police said patrol officers saw a man who matched Crite's description walking near Planet Fitness on Kentucky Highway 54. After the police tried to stop him, he reportedly fled into a nearby field, and a chase ensued. According to the sheriff's office, a perimeter was set up, and after a lengthy search involving drones and K-9s, Crite was not found. He was found asleep in a bedroom and was taken into custody.
