Remaining recruiting needs, flip targets and what's next for Oregon Ducks in 2026 class

It's been quite a summer for Dan Lanning and the Oregon Ducks when it comes to the recruiting world. Just over 50 days ago, the Ducks had the No. 42 class in the nation after suffering a number of commitment flips and decommitments. What they did from there, though, will be remembered by fans for a long time. Quite simply put, it was the "Summer of Dan." Over the last two months, Oregon got hot. They added four 5-stars and four 4-star players, jumping all the way up to No. 7 in the national rankings. The last week in particular has been quite impressive, with 5-star EDGE Anthony 'Tank' Jones and 5-star CB Davon Benjamin both joining the flock. With those two now in the fold, it offers a regrouping time for the Ducks will fall camp underway. The major names on Oregon's recruiting board are locked up, and for the most part, the 2026 class is set in Eugene. There will undoubtedly be some "flip" targets and new prospects who reveal themselves over the coming months, but if the Ducks go into National Signing Day with this class intact, nobody would be disappointed. At this juncture in the recruiting schedule, though, let's take a quick look at where things stand and where things might go from here in Eugene before NSD in early December. Where the Oregon Ducks' 2026 Class Currently Stands National Ranking per 247Sports: No. 7 National Ranking per On3/Rivals: No. 3 Average Rating per Commitment: 94.39 (1st nationally) 5-star Commits: 5 (tied 1st nationally) With the additions of Tank Jones and Davon Benjamin this past week, Oregon jumped back into the top 10 of the national rankings. It also secured their fourth and fifth 5-star commits, tying the Alabama Crimson Tide for the most in the nation, while also marking the most 5-star recruits that Oregon has ever had in a single class. Remaining Oregon Ducks Recruiting Needs Looking down Oregon's recruiting board for the 2026 class, there are a few areas where they could still stand to improve. Before we get there, though, let's look at where they have things covered: Going forward, there are two areas of real need, with one position that another player could fill. The two areas of major need are on the interior defensive line and at the linebacker position. Each position has just one player in this class so far, and a year ago, the Ducks took zero interior defensive linemen and just one linebacker in the 2025 class. Getting two more recruits, one at each position in this class, would be beneficial for the Ducks. You could also argue that Oregon could stand to add another cornerback, but considering that they took three top-100 players at the position last cycle, it's not as pressing a need. Uncommitted Oregon Ducks Targets in 2026 At this point, many of the top-rated targets are off the board in the 2026 class. However, this is one player remaining that Oregon hopes to sign, but it would require a reclassification. There has been some smoke around 2027 5-star defensive lineman Jalen Brewster reclassifying to the 2026 class. Brewster stands at 6-foot-3, 300 pounds, and is rated as the No. 8 overall player and No. 1 DL in the nation. Brewster has been high on the Ducks, and could fill a significant need if he were to reclassify and join Oregon's 2026 class. This is the primary target for the Ducks to watch over the next couple of months. Flip Targets for Oregon Ducks in 2026 What to Expect by National Signing Day If we've learned anything over the past three recruiting cycles under Dan Lanning, it's to expect some fireworks in early December. While the Ducks' 2026 recruiting class is already among the best in the nation, and features more quality than any other team, don't expect Lanning and his staff to be satisfied. There are a handful of blue-chip players that they narrowly missed out on earlier this summer, but that doesn't mean they have given up. I wouldn't be shocked to see a high-end 4-star or 5-star player flip to Oregon before all is said and done. Right now, the Ducks have 17 commitments in this class. By the time everyone signs, I think it's fair to expect somewhere between 18-21. Where Oregon football stands in 2026 rankings following Davon Benjamin commitment

The Oregon Ducks continued their hot streak on the recruiting trail on Saturday, landing yet another 5-star player in the 2026 class. 5-star defensive back Davon Benjamin announced his commitment to the Ducks on Saturday afternoon, giving Oregon their fifth 5-star player, the most in the nation. The 247Sports Composite rates Benjamin as the No. 35 player in the 2026 class, and the No. 4 safety. While Benjamin is listed as a safety, he is expected to move around in the secondary at the collegiate level. Benjamin chose the Ducks over the Michigan Wolverines and Texas Longhorns. This commitment comes just days after Oregon landed 5-star EDGE Anthony 'Tank' Jones over the Alabama Crimson Tide and Texas A&M Aggies. With the addition of Benjamin, the Ducks moved up in the recruiting rankings by a spot, jumping from No. 8 over the Ohio State Buckeyes to No. 7. There was originally an expectation that the Ducks would land 4-star DL Deuce Geralds, the No. 95 player in the class, on Saturday as well, but he ended up committing to the LSU Tigers instead. There aren't many primary targets on Oregon's board in the 2026 class, so things might get quiet on the recruiting front until we get closer to National Signing Day in early December. However, we've seen Dan Lanning and his staff have some fireworks at that time of year annually, so don't be surprised if more news comes. 4-star CB Davon Benjamin puts Oregon Ducks among top schools ahead of commitment

After a blazing hot recruiting stretch over the last few weeks, things have slowed down for the Oregon Ducks at this point in July, while we await a few major recruiting announcements early next month. The Ducks are in a great position to land a pair of blue-chip players, 4-star CB Davon Benjamin and 4-star DL Deuce Geralds, both of whom are scheduled to announce their commitments on August 2. On Monday, Benjamin announced his top schools ahead of his commitment, with the Ducks unsurprisingly in the mix. Benjamin listed Oregon alongside the Michigan Wolverines, Texas Longhorns, Washington Huskies, and North Carolina Tar Heels. The 247Sports Composite rates the 4-star CB as the No. 38 player in the 2026 class. Oregon is currently the favorite to land Benjamin, but the Wolverines have been making a strong push for him over the last month, and it could come down to the wire to land the blue-chip prospect. Oregon is also currently the heavy favorite to land Geralds, who is rated as the No. 75 player and No. 9 DL in the class. 4-star CB breaks down recent Michigan football visit

The post 4-star CB breaks down recent Michigan football visit appeared first on ClutchPoints. The Michigan football team hosted one of the best players in the 2026 recruiting class last weekend as four-star cornerback Davon Benjamin was in Ann Arbor for an official visit. The next few weeks are packed with important visitors, and it sounds like the Wolverines did a good job starting this month on the right foot. Advertisement Davon Benjamin has an impressive offer list, so the Michigan football team has some stiff competition here. It won't be easy to earn a commitment, but it sounds like Benjamin was impressed by his visit. 'Michigan stood out with how serious they are about player development,' Benjamin said, according to a post from Hayes Fawcett. 'They're all about building you up on & off the field, & you can tell they've got a plan to help you succeed long term.' Benjamin is a four-star recruit, according to 247Sports. He is the #36 player in the 2026 class, the #5 safety and the #7 player in the state of California. Benjamin currently attends Oak Christian High School in Westlake Village, CA. There are some West Coast schools like USC and Oregon that seemed to be in better standing than Michigan, but the official visit to Ann Arbor could've changed that. 'Benjamin is the most versatile defensive back out West and could end up starting at corner, safety or nickel,' Benjamin's scouting report states. 'A talented receiver as well and offers playmaking ability as a punt/kick returner. Plays predominately safety at the H.S level to allow him to roam sideline to sideline and take advantage of his range and ballhawk ability but has excellent man to man cover skills. Has locked up some talented receivers on the 7v7 circuit and shows the ability to play a physical game without having to clutch and grab like so many young corners.' Advertisement In terms of a high school prospect, Benjamin is just about as good as it gets. He could go on to have a special career at Michigan if he ends up committing. 'Athletically gifted, a twitchy athlete who can stop and start on a dime, change direction and has the speed to run with just about anyone down the field,' his scouting report continues. 'Plays a physical game in run support and can fly off the hash and lay out an opposing ball carrier. A smart, high IQ football player and very instinctive. When combine his physical tools with his high compete level, it won't surprise at all if Benjamin is a potential three-and out college player and a high round NFL Draft pick.' Davon Benjamin is a gifted athlete, and he would be a major get for the 2026 Michigan football recruiting class. Nation's Top Cornerback Shares Intel on Michigan Wolverines After Official Visit

Nation's Top Cornerback Shares Intel on Michigan Wolverines After Official Visit originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Michigan Wolverines are still working to build momentum with their Class of 2026 on the recruiting trail in hopes of following up what was a stellar 2025 class. Advertisement Michigan has less than ten recruits in their 2026 class so far, and most of them are not in the high-four to five-star range as coach Sherrone Moore was worked to identify diamonds in the rough. On Sunday, Michigan fans were filled in on the latest recruiting update from the nation's top Class of 2026 cornerback, Davon Benjamin, as the Corona (Oaks Christian High School), California prospect revealed what stood out about the Michigan Wolverines in comparison to his other visits so far. Benjamin is listed as a strong Oregon Ducks lean with a probability of over 94 percent to attend school in Eugene next fall. The Ducks have offered along with fellow Big Ten powers USC and Ohio State, with the Miami Hurricanes currently bringing up the rear. Michigan has become one of the top destination schools for defensive backs after the success of players including Will Johnson, Mike Sainristil and Rod Moore who led the team to three straight Big Ten titles and a national championship.
