Feature Video: Flume & JPEGMAFIA - AI Girlfriend

Get your stacks out and start peeling off hundies and tucking them into Flume and JPEGMAFIA's waistbands because these guys deserve all the rewards right now after securing their second Featured Video award in two weeks!! With 'AI Girlfriend' they've totally one-eightied the vibes from their previous video release 'Track 1', trading hand-drawn animated caricatures for dystopian science-fiction that's like a wild hedonistic version of Fritz Lang's Metropolis . Co-directed by JPEGMAFIA and Logan Fields (who has worked with Peggy before on clips including 'Protect The Cross', 'don't rely on other men', 'Sin Miedo' and 'Scaring the Hoes' with Danny Brown), 'AI Girlfriend' is a "We live in such an absurd time' says Logan. 'Really, I just wanted to take a snapshot of right now as I see it.' It was a mad hustle from start to finish with this clip, which includes a life-size 'robot girlfriend', a cast of performers and an impromptu cameo from actor Dax Flame (who's popular work includes Project X and 21 Jump Street ). 'From idea to release, the whole thing came together in about a week, so everything moved fast' says Logan. 'The robot suit had to be flown in by its designer from Barcelona and didn't land until midnight before the shoot with no fitting. The Dax Flame cameo is all thanks to our amazing producer James Stewart, who managed to arrange his appearance literally the day of.' Using a variety of cameras and formats in what Logan likes to call 'a shotgun blast approach' (handing cameras to as many people as possible), the team created an abundance of perspectives and textures to play with. 'I spent the two days after the shoot cutting the video with help from the insanely talented editor and VFX artist Low Limit Vision' says Logan. 'The video dropped the following afternoon, three days after filming it.' 'The fun thing about making something this fast is there's no time to second guess. An idea gets said out loud and a few hours later it's in the frame. It's chaotic but kind of freeing."
