Premier scheduled to launch DBNA's community hostel

KUCHING (Aug 11): Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg is scheduled to officially open the Dayak Bidayuh National Association's (DBNA) community hostel next month.
Minister of Education, Innovation and Talent Development Dato Sri Roland Sagah Wee Inn, who is DBNA adviser, said the official opening will be held in conjunction with DBNA's 70th anniversary celebration.
Sagah, who led a delegation to meet Abang Johari at Satria Pertiwi Complex today, said the meeting also discussed updates on several development projects concerning the Bidayuh community.
'The main purpose of our courtesy call was to invite the Premier to our 70th anniversary dinner and at the same time to officiate the opening of the DBNA hostel, which was built using a grant from the Sarawak government through the Premier,' he told reporters after the courtesy call.
Among those present during the courtesy call were Deputy Minister of Transport (Riverine and Marine) Datuk Henry Harry Jinep, Serian MP Dato Sri Richard Riot Jaem, Puncak Borneo MP Datuk Willie Mongin, Serembu assemblyman Miro Simuh, Bukit Semuja assemblyman John Ilus, Tebedu assemblyman Dr Simon Sinang Bada, and Opar assemblyman Billy Sujang.
Also in the delegation were DBNA president Datu Ik Pahon Joyik and deputy president Dr Charlie Ungang.
It was previously reported that the hostel project worth RM16 million commenced construction in 2021.
Completed this year, the nine-storey building comprises accommodation facilities, a gallery, and function rooms. Abang Johari DBNA lead Roland Sagah Wee Inn
