'Stud of the Sea': Former 'Below Deck' star Captain Lee Rosbach visits Daytona Bike Week

The 'Stud of the Sea' was in Daytona Beach. The former star of Bravo's reality TV series 'Below Deck,' Captain Lee Rosbach is stepping off his mega yacht and jumping on his bike to enjoy the last few days of Bike Week. In a video posted on Instagram Wednesday, Rosbach stood next to his white Can-Am Spyder bike to tease his trip to Volusia County. 'We're loaded up, got the bike on the trailer, hooked up to the motorhome,' Rosbach said in the video. 'Daytona Bike Week here we come — you ain't ready for us. We're going to have a good time.' But in another post early Friday, Rosbach shared a screenshot of Daytona's 39-degree morning weather hinting he might be leaving town. Bike Week 2025: A complete guide to Daytona's 84th annual motorcycle festival 'Anyone who knows me, knows I don't do cold,' Rosbach wrote. 'It's a great thing my Spyder has heated everything. Headed south today where the weather suits my clothing.' Rosbach, 75, has been a yacht captain for more than three decades, according to his profile page on Bravo's website. Born and raised in Saginaw, Michigan, he had never even seen the ocean 'until moving to Turks & Caicos with his bride, Mary Anne, to run a restaurant in his mid-30s.' 'In need of cash, he responded to an ad he saw seeking a mate for a delivery on a sailboat — no experience necessary,' the website says. 'At 35, Lee obtained his captain's license and left the restaurant business behind to pursue his newfound passion.' Rosbach starred in 10 seasons of 'Below Deck,' where the Stud of the Sea, as he is known, ran the ship "with a no-nonsense attitude and salty one-liners,' Bravo's website says. In 2018, Rosbach released a memoir titled 'Running Against the Tide: True Tales from the Stud of the Sea,' recounting his life experiences as mega yacht captain. Bravo's reality TV show 'Below Deck' first aired in July 2013. It follows the day-to-day life of a mega yacht crew as they take passengers on charters around the world. 'A young and single crew lives, loves and works aboard a luxurious yacht, meeting the ever-changing needs of demanding clients while visiting some of the world's most beautiful destinations,' read the show's synopsis on Peacock, where it's available to stream. 'Below Deck' has also spawned spin-off versions, including 'Below Deck Sailing Yacht,' 'Below Deck Down Under,' 'Below Deck Mediterranean' and more. VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. - The New Smyrna Beach Police Department is actively investigating a shooting between what they say are "familiar" rival motorcycle gangs. The shooting took place during daylight hours at a gas station in a well-populated area of Volusia County. What we know The shooting took place earlier today in the 3000 block of State Road 44 at a RaceTrac, reports show. Chris Kirk, interim police chief for the New Smyrna Police Department, said the shooting happened when a fight broke out between the gangs near the gas station's air pumps. Two people were injured in the shooting, officials confirmed. However, police said the injuries appear to be non-life-threatening. Kirk said the gangs fled from the gas station before law enforcement arrived. Kirk stated that the police department is already familiar with both of the rival biker gangs. Police have confirmed the motorcycle groups were in town for Daytona Bike Week, which started Feb. 28 and runs through Sunday. "This isn't reflective of the overall biker population," Kirk said. "We have extra people on staff for Bike Week, and we will continue to have people on staff." The Volusia County Sheriff's Office is also assisting with the investigation, a spokesperson said, although the New Smyrna Beach Police Department is the lead investigative agency. Other agencies helping include the Edgewater Police Department; the Federal Bureau of Investigation; and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. "Obviously, something in the middle of the day like this is worst-case scenario for us, with bystanders and heavy beach traffic," Kirk said. "Thankfully, it appears that anyone who wasn't involved in the incident was not injured." What we don't know Police have not yet said what led to the shooting between the two groups. Kirk said one suspect has been detained, but no official arrests have been made. It is currently unclear how many people were involved in the fight. Officials say the incident remains an active investigation, and they are asking the public to avoid the area at this time. The New Smyrna Police Department is asking anyone with information on the shooting to call (386) 424-2220. Potentially 'severe weather' in Daytona area could pose danger to Bike Week crowds

Breezy weather will continue in the Daytona Beach area into Wednesday night as potentially strong storms could pose dangerous conditions to motorcyclists, according to forecasters. Staying inside or having an alternative mode of transportation to avoid getting caught in a windy, rainy storm is the best way for Bike Week crowds to stay safe, said Melissa Watson, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Melbourne. 'We have a cold front that's forecast to move across the Daytona area today, and ahead of that we have a line of storms that will be pushing through into the afternoon,' Watson said. More Bike Week: Black Bike Week in Daytona Beach celebrates 50+ years of cultural tradition The area is under a 'marginal risk' of severe weather, which means storms could produce 40-50 mph winds, with the potential of even 60 mph gusts. 'Small hail will be possible, heavy downpours and frequent lightning as well,' Watson added. She encouraged bikers to 'always have multiple ways" to receive weather warnings. 'Before you head out, know where the showers and storms are relative to you,' Watson said. 'As rain comes down any driving conditions, whether it be for cars or motorcycles, that rain mixed with oil can cause slipperiness.' According to Watson, the forecast calls for mostly dry weather Thursday and into the early weekend. 'Breezy conditions today will remain breezy and gusty into tonight,' she said. The 15-20 mph winds will start to die down Thursday night and get lighter and lighter into the weekend. The National Weather Service is also calling for high risk of 'dangerous' rip currents on the Volusia County coast through Wednesday night. By Sunday, another cold front will bring rain chances again. 'We are looking at about 60% chance as of right now,' Watson said. Bike Week 2025: A complete guide to Daytona's 84th annual motorcycle festival Here is a look at the extended forecast for the Daytona Beach area, according to the National Weather Service forecast: 'Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 67 degrees.
