Kraken mascot bear encounter: Watch as Buoy and Seattle F John Hayden get charged during promo shoot

Kraken mascot bear encounter: Watch as Buoy and Seattle F John Hayden get charged during promo shoot originally appeared on The Sporting News Sports teams' social media departments have become increasingly important over the years. Whether it's player interviews or schedule reveals, an organization's social team is charged with high expectations to deliver information creatively for fans' enjoyment. Sometimes, things can get a little carried away, though. The Seattle Kraken's mascot, Buoy, and forward John Hayden were recently filming promotional content in Alaska as part of an "annual trip organized by Bristol Bay Native Corporation in Anchorage," per the Associated Press. Everything was going well until the crew noticed that there was an unwanted guest on the premises. A brown bear had sauntered out of the woods and into the stream. 📲 Follow The Sporting News on WhatsApp Here's more on the close call that the Kraken mascot recently had with a bear. Kraken mascot bear encounter Buoy and Hayden were fishing when all of a sudden a guide with them took the fishing rod from the hockey player. The crew pointed out that a bear had emerged from the woods. It looked like it was just searching for food in the stream, but then the brown bear charged at Buoy. The mascot and forward were making their way out of the stream in a calm but deliberate manner. You don't want to just turn and start running from a bear because it could incite them to chase you. Luckily, as the bear got closer, it turned at the last minute and didn't fully end up coming after the duo. The franchise's Partnership Marketing Director was on the shore and recorded the encounter. She said, "Bears are everywhere at Brooks Falls and, like, this is their territory. They're also super used to seeing humans. So, I wasn't scared." While this may be true, bears surely aren't used to seeing hockey mascots, especially ones like Buoy. Hayden picked up on that as well after the video, saying, "I want to blame it on Buoy. They were pretty interested in his look." While the forward may have been joking with his mascot, it aligns with the fact that the bears were probably accustomed to humans, but this particular brown wanted to determine what Buoy was and if it could be prey. What is the Kraken's mascot? The Seattle hockey franchise was founded in 2021. The team name is a nod to a creature from Norse mythology that lived in the ocean. It was basically a giant squid, but on a massive scale. In movies, like "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest," krakens are big enough to wrap their tentacles around ships and sink them. If this doesn't sound very family friendly, the Kraken front office agreed. For a mascot, they instead went with a sea troll named Buoy. The franchise felt that the sea troll, with a big smile was more friendly for children, while still keeping with the nautical theme.

Orlando Bloom wants to 'get the band back together' for Pirates Of The Caribbean

Actor Orlando Bloom has said he thinks it would be "great to get the band back together" for a new Pirates Of The Caribbean project. The 48-year-old, who plays Will Turner in the Disney film franchise, told ITV's This Morning there is a chance the cast could reunite for a new instalment. Asked if more Pirates Of The Caribbean features are possible, he said: "Well, I don't know, I can't say anything at the moment because I really don't know, but there's definitely availability. "I think they're trying to work out what it would all look like, I personally think it'd be great to get the band back together, that would be great, but there are always different ideas, and so we'll see where it lands." Bloom also spoke about his latest film Deep Cover, which will be released on 12 June, saying he took inspiration from Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher when constructing his character. The Kent-born actor said: "When I read in the script that (his character) was a northern I was like, 'who's the iconic northerner that I know?'. "Growing up I went to Knebworth and seeing Liam and the boys, the whole band, but Liam, he's just got that swag, hasn't he? "I thought if I can get even close to that, I'd have a lot of fun trying, and it sort of lent itself, and I kind of imagined that (he) was sort of this desperate, out of work actor, maybe he worked at like a costume house or something. "So, he'd get really into the costume and what he was wearing, and the Liam look and everything, so it was a really great way into the character, and I had a lot of fun with it." The Pirates Of The Caribbean series has seen five feature films: The Curse Of The Black Pearl (2003); Dead Man's Chest (2006); At World's End (2007); On Stranger Tides (2011); and Dead Men Tell No Tales (2017); along with the short film Pirates Of The Caribbean: Tales Of The Code: Wedlocked (2011). The series is based on the Disneyland attraction of the same name, and follows the adventures of Captain Jack Sparrow, played by Johnny Depp. It has also spawned a number of video games.

Keira Knightley looks effortlessly chic in a flowing white and black gown as she attends Chanel Cruise fashion show in Italy

Keira Knightley looked effortlessly chic in a flowing white and black gown at the Chanel Cruise 2025 fashion show in Como, Italy on Tuesday. The American actress, 40, turned heads as she arrived at the luxury five-star Villa D'Este for the annual show. Keira looked out of this world in the very elegant maxi dress, adorned with black bow motifs and a pearl belt. The beauty has been married to her husband James Righton since 2013, and they are parents to two children, Edie, nine and Delilah, five. Elsewhere at the catwalk, French model and music producer Caroline de Maigret, 50, showcased her age-defying looks in black tailored trousers and a cream blouse. Meanwhile, French-Romanian actress Anamaria Vartolomei, 26, couldn't contain her laughter as she shielded her face from the sun. Italian actress Gaia Girace, 21, looked chic in a black pleated leather skirt and miniature Chanel handbag. Actress Selene Caramazza put on a very leggy display and flashed her torso in a stylish black co-ord. Keira's Italian outing comes after she spoke about her mixed feelings surrounding her role in Pirates of the Caribbean films while promoting her Netflix series Black Doves. In an interview with The Times, the two-time Oscar nominee said the franchise 'was making and breaking' her at the same time. 'I was seen as s*** because of them,' she explained, 'and yet because they did so well, I was given the opportunity to do the films that I ended up getting Oscar nominations for.' Keira said they were 'the most successful films I'll ever be a part of, and they were the reason that I was taken down publicly. So they're a very confused place in my head.' The 2003 Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl helped launch Keira's career into the stratosphere, but it came with a cost. The action adventure starring Orlando Bloom, Jeffrey Rush and Johnny Depp made more than $654 million worldwide according to Box Office Mojo. The film received average reviews from critics, but audiences disagreed and showed their approval in box office ticket sales. Keira and Orlando starred in two more films in the franchise, 2006's Dead Man's Chest and 2007's At World's End. Both were panned by critics, but were big winners at the box office, with Dead Man's Chest earning more than $1 billion and At World's End coming in close with more than $961 million. The attention from the film resulted in a lot of attention on Keira appearance, including her thinness and she was accused in the media of having an eating disorder. She also revealed in 2018 she had been treated for post-traumatic stress. 'In that classic trauma way I don't remember it,' she told the outlet. Netflix has also announced it has renewed Black Doves for a second season after the first of the thriller series became a hit with fans - and royalty. It was an instant hit, flying to the top of the charts as viewers dubbed it a ' Christmas series' and it even made it to Kensington Palace. Whilst handing out Christmas presents to children and families at a party for 1st Battalion Mercian Regiment in Wiltshire, Prince William revealed he and Princess Catherine have been sitting down to watch Black Doves.
