Nick Jonas 'to play KISS frontman Paul Stanley in biopic'
Nick Jonas has reportedly been lined up to play KISS frontman Paul Stanley in a new biopic. The pop star/actor is believed to have been tapped to portray the band's frontman in 'Shout It Out Loud', which will be directed by McG and will chart the rock band's rise to fame. The Hollywood Reporter reports Jonas is in "final talks" to take on the role of Stanley, while movie bosses are still looking for an actor to play the singer's bassist bandmate Gene Simmons. The group is helping to develop the project while Stanley and Simmons are among the producers along with McG. reports Jonas plans to take on singing duties in the film and needs time to train his voice to be able to emulate Stanley's signature vocals. Longtime KISS manager Doc McGhee previously revealed the movie would focus on the band's first four years together after forming in the 1970s. Speaking to Talking Metal in 2021, he explained: "[The script is] completely done … And the script is about the first four years of KISS. Basically, it's before they were famous - it was up to Cadillac High [KISS' famous gig in a high school gym in Cadillac, Michigan in 1975] , that kind of thing ... "And I think it's a very interesting look at the formation of KISS, the mindset of how that came about, the social pressure that everybody was in in the '60s and '70s that brought something like KISS to the forefront, that it could actually happen. So it's a very interesting, and I think it's a well-written movie." Stanley has also previously spoken about the movie, telling broadcaster Kylie Olsson in 2021: "[The movie is] definitely happening. And that's gonna be really interesting. The script was really good. And we really waited until we felt comfortable." He added of actors who could play him in the film: "I will tell you this: for casting to be accurate in terms of age, we are looking at actors in their early 20s. "Honestly, I don't know a whole lot of actors in their early 20s. When people get asked these kinds of questions, they'll say, 'Oh, Brad Pitt,' or this one or that one. "Well, those guys are in their 50s or 60s, so you're talking about another generation of actors. And I'm the first to say I'm not up on a lot of them. "But as the casting process goes on, I'll certainly be there and watching. It'll be interesting to see how someone else- be it the casting people or the director - how they view who I am and who they see doing that. I think I'll learn a lot about their perception of me by who they cast."

Television Q&A: Has CBS disbanded police drama ‘S.W.A.T.'?
You have questions. I have some answers. Q: What has happened to 'S.W.A.T.'? We love the team. A: CBS canceled the police drama. The network had done so before, then relented, but there was no extra life this time – for most of the team, anyway. Not long after the final episode premiered, the show's studio announced plans for a spinoff series, 'S.W.A.T. Exiles,' with Shemar Moore continuing his role as 'Hondo' Harrelson. The announcement did not say where the new show would air. It did describe it this way: 'After a high-profile mission goes sideways, Daniel 'Hondo' Harrelson is pulled out of forced retirement to lead a last-chance experimental SWAT unit made up of untested, unpredictable young recruits. Hondo must bridge a generational divide, navigate clashing personalities, and turn a squad of outsiders into a team capable of protecting the city and saving the program that made him who he is.' On Instagram Moore called it ''S.W.A.T.' on steroids.' Fans like you are undoubtedly dismayed that the new show apparently will not include returning cast members other than Moore. On Instagram Moore said, 'nobody likes change,' but 'without change you can't grow.' Even as he praised the other actors, he said he was 'the quarterback.' Q: NBC made a big mistake when it canceled 'Found.' Per numerous comments on the internet, this show was well-liked, and the ratings were good. This show was moved around and interrupted for various reasons almost every week. Yet, it was still very popular. Is there any chance that another network will pick up this show for more episodes? A: There's a chance the studio will seek a new home for the series. Ratings declined in the second season, but noted a bigger reason for its demise: it was 'a casualty of NBC's cutback on entertainment programming to accommodate the 180 primetime hours of basketball next season.' NBC spent big on an NBA package, and Deadline said it made room for the games by dropping 'Found' as well as 'The Irrational,' 'Suits LA,' 'Night Court' and 'Lopez vs. Lopez.' Q: I've been watching a Netflix series called 'Adolescence.' It ended with four episodes and no conclusion. What gives? A: Widely praised - the series has a 99% rating on Rotten Tomatoes - 'Adolescence' indeed had a conclusion, one that critics saw as laced with pain and without any easy comforts. But having it end after four episodes is something that many viewers would find abrupt, especially those of us used to series with far more episodes. These days, though, the idea of shows running 30 episodes in a season, or 20, or even 13, is one many series no longer embrace for creative and financial reasons. So after 10 episodes, or eight, or six - or, yes, four - we have to find satisfaction in the story as told. Q: I like watching Jon Taffer's 'Bar Rescue.' Why has he been sending other people to do his rescues lately? A: Taffer is not just a TV host but a far-ranging entrepreneur. Among other ventures - including a bourbon brand - he recently made a deal to expand his Taffer's Tavern franchise nationwide, for example. Last year, as viewers noticed he was not hosting every episode of 'Bar Rescue,' he went on Instagram to say, 'I want to assure you all that I am in good health and as Executive Producer, even if I am not hosting the episode I am still overseeing every episode and ensuring that 'Bar Rescue' continues to deliver the high standards you've come to expect.' He promised he would host 'many episodes to come.' --- Copyright (C) 2025, Tribune Content Agency, LLC. Portions copyrighted by the respective providers.

Kevin Spacey declares it's 'nice to be back' as he accepts lifetime achievement award
Kevin Spacey declared it's "nice to be back" before accepting a lifetime achievement award during a charity gala in France. The 'House of Cards' star made a return to the spotlight at the Better World Fund Gala in Cannes to accept a prize honouring "excellence in film and television" marking his first major public appearance since he was cleared of sexual assault charges in London in 2023 - and Spacey used his speech to address his legal issues. According to Spacey thanked Better World Fund Gala President and Founder Manuel Collas de La Rochefor inviting him to the event, saying: "I'd like to congratulate Manuel for the decision to invite me here tonight to accept this award,. "Who would have ever thought that honoring someone who has been exonerated in every court room he's ever walked into would be thought of as a brave idea. But here we are." He went on to talk about screenwriter Dalton Trumbo - who was blacklisted from Hollywood after being accused of having Communist links - and praised the "bravery" of actor Kirk Douglas for standing up for Trumbo and giving him the chance to pen the screenplay for his Oscar-winning movie 'Spartacus'. Space added: "Kirk Douglas took the risk, and would later say ... 'It's easier for us actors to play the heroes on screen. We get to fight the bad guys and stand up for justice. But in real life, the choices are not always so clear. There are times when one has to stand up for principal'. "I've learned a lot from history - it often repeats itself. The Blacklist was a terrible time in our history [we must remember] so that it never happens again." He went on to praise his manager Evan Lowenstein for helping him through the tough times. Spacey said: "Through Evan, I have learned to seek understanding instead of judgement and with this guidance, I've been able to come out these last few challenging years, not angry, not bitter, not resentful, but more present, more loving, more understanding and more forgiving in my life." Spacey's speech came after he walked the red carpet at the event and told reporters: "I feel surrounded by so much affection and love. "I've heard from so many of my friends, and colleagues and co-stars in the last week since this award was announced. I feel surrounded by support and it's very nice to be back." When asked if he is planning a career comeback, Spacey replied: "Well, I'm glad to be working - I'll tell you that!" Spacey denied all allegations of misconduct against him and he was acquitted of nine sexual assault charges he faced in the UK in 2023. He was also found not liable in a sexual assault lawsuit filed in New York which was dismissed in 2022.

First look emerges of Nicholas Cage as John Madden (and Chrisian Bale as Al Davis)
When word emerged last year that Nicholas Cage will take a break from making a nonstop string of movies to play John Madden in yet another movie, it was a curiosity. We didn't know then what we know now. Christian Bale appears in the same film, as the legendary Al Davis. Cage has been in some things that, well, aren't good. Bale's work rarely lands in that category. The mere mention of Bale's name gives Madden cachet. Up the ying yang. (If you're never seen The Prestige, what are you waiting for? If you start now, you will have watched it twice by this time tomorrow.) Via Mike Fleming Jr. of production began this week. The first look at Cage as Madden and Bale as Davis is awesome. Others in the film include John Mulaney as EA founder Trip Hawkins, Kathryn Hahn as Virginia Madden, and Sienna Miller as Carol Davis. But it all comes back to Bale. Now that he is in, I'm all in. I'll consider it a bonus if they can lure Michael Caine out of retirement and get him to chain-smoke away his Cockney accent to play Pat Summerall.
