USC baseball gets crucial sweep of Ohio State
USC baseball gets crucial sweep of Ohio State USC needed to sweep Ohio State, and it did. The Trojans have to build on that.
This weekend, USC baseball was back in action at Great Park in Irvine, as the Trojans welcomed Ohio State to Southern California for a three-game series. And a very successful series it was for USC, as the Trojans took all three games from the Buckeyes to pick up their first ever Big Ten sweep.
USC's offense came alive in the series, putting up a combined 27 runs across the three games. After winning 5-3 on Friday night and 12-9 on Saturday, the Trojans earned a thrilling 10-9 victory on Sunday to complete the sweep. USC blew an early 8-4 lead and entered the bottom of the ninth trailing 9-8, but the Trojans tied the game on a Brayden Dowd home run before walking it off on a Dean Carpentier RBI single.
After getting swept by Oregon in their first three Big Ten games, USC has now won four consecutive Big Ten series. The Trojans currently sit at 20-11 overall on the season and 9-6 in conference play.
USC is back in action Tuesday night when the Trojans visit LMU. They will then travel to State College, Pennsylvania, this weekend for a three-game series against Penn State.
