USC baseball gets crucial sweep of Ohio State

USC baseball gets crucial sweep of Ohio State USC needed to sweep Ohio State, and it did. The Trojans have to build on that.
This weekend, USC baseball was back in action at Great Park in Irvine, as the Trojans welcomed Ohio State to Southern California for a three-game series. And a very successful series it was for USC, as the Trojans took all three games from the Buckeyes to pick up their first ever Big Ten sweep.
USC's offense came alive in the series, putting up a combined 27 runs across the three games. After winning 5-3 on Friday night and 12-9 on Saturday, the Trojans earned a thrilling 10-9 victory on Sunday to complete the sweep. USC blew an early 8-4 lead and entered the bottom of the ninth trailing 9-8, but the Trojans tied the game on a Brayden Dowd home run before walking it off on a Dean Carpentier RBI single.
After getting swept by Oregon in their first three Big Ten games, USC has now won four consecutive Big Ten series. The Trojans currently sit at 20-11 overall on the season and 9-6 in conference play.
USC is back in action Tuesday night when the Trojans visit LMU. They will then travel to State College, Pennsylvania, this weekend for a three-game series against Penn State.

Former Ohio State running back Quinshon Judkins praises Buckeye 'brotherhood'

You hear it all the time when you talk to current and past Ohio State football players. They talk about the "brotherhood" with reverence and respect. You hear a lot of teams talk about that sort of thing, but unless you are in the middle of it all, it's hard to fully grasp. One guy that was in the middle of the Ohio State brotherhood was running back Quinshon Judkins who was selected by the Cleveland Browns in the 2025 NFL draft. The former Ole Miss All-SEC performer has a unique perspective too because he came to Ohio State from another program and had just one year to soak it all in. So what he says about the culture at OSU is more telling than maybe someone that doesn't have much to compare it to. Advertisement On that note, Judkins recently discussed what the brotherhood on the banks of the Olentangy means, and though he didn't put forth a long, winding answer, his short response was concise and on point. I seen Denzel (Burke) and he's like "O-H" when I first walked into the facility," Judkins said. "And I seen all the guys -- I've met a lot of the guys that are Buckeyes on the team -- and for them to be all around and still have that brotherhood and they say it and speak on it. So it's pretty special and it's a lifelong thing." Look, we writers aren't directly in the middle of the Buckeye culture, or "brotherhood" as they call it. But you can see and feel it just covering the team. There does seem to be a little something different than other programs, and it's a testament to the guys and coaches that have come before, and with Ryan Day continuing things. It's not easy. WATCH: Ohio State players and coaches continue June Olympics with penalty kick competition

WATCH: Ohio State players and coaches continue June Olympics with penalty kick competition We are officially in the doldrums of college athletics unless you have a baseball team still in the thick of the Men's College World Series. We are definitely in a lull with college football, that vacuum of a space between spring and fall camp when the weather turns soupy and steamy, and time seems to drag on. To fill that void, the Ohio State football program is holding what it calls the "June Olympics," where the players compete in events against the coaches for bragging rights and who knows what else. I mean, what better way to follow up a College Football Playoff national championship? The latest competition involved non-American football, or soccer as us folks here in the United States call it. But not a full-fledged game, but penalty kicks. The players have been on a roll with these events lately, and they kept things going with yet another win to extend their lead to 3-1 in the June Olympics. The Buckeyes did this same thing last summer, but we're not sure how many events we'll see this summer. Right now, the players have it over the older, less athletic coaches. Watch the social media post where the players and coaches engage in a spirited battle with the goal right, smack dab in the middle of the practice field at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center. We'll keep an eye on this "friendly" competition as it continues on and bring you the scores and results of each event as we count down the days to fall camp.
