Four-star small forward Dean Rueckert commits to BYU

The 6-foot-7 small forward out of Timpview High in Provo, Utah chose to play for coach Kevin Young and the Cougars over Clemson, Stanford, Utah, and Washington. He becomes BYU's first commitment in the 2026 class. Rueckert is ranked as the No. 80 overall player in the class, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking. 'I chose BYU because I feel like it's a place that can help me grow both on and off the court. Coach Young and his staff believe in me, and I know they can help me reach my goals—both to have a successful college career and to play professionally. 'I've had a lot of time to get to know the coaches since they've been recruiting me for a while. They've always been honest when I've asked questions or looked for feedback, and that's helped build a strong level of trust.' In his own words, what type of player is BYU getting in Rueckert? 'I'd describe myself as a three-point shooter who can also attack off the dribble, finish above the rim, or draw the defense and make the right play.' He has a message for BYU fans. Clemson remains firmly in the hunt for one of the top wings out West in the 2026 class. Four-star small forward Dean Rueckert, out of Timpview High School in Provo, Utah, announced his top five schools on Thursday, with the Tigers making the cut alongside BYU, Utah, Stanford, and Washington. Clemson offered Rueckert in late May, and it didn't take long for the Tigers to earn a spot among his finalists. Rueckert is considered one of the most versatile forwards in the West for his class. The 6-foot-6 prospect averaged 18.1 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks per game last season, showcasing his ability to score at all three levels while making an impact on the defensive end. He's currently ranked No. 62 nationally in the 247Sports Composite and checks in at No. 24 among small forwards. Clemson head coach Brad Brownell and his staff have quietly made inroads in the 2026 cycle, and Rueckert has emerged as a priority target.
