Federal judge in Maryland issues new block on Trump's birthright citizenship order
A federal judge in Maryland on Thursday issued a fresh nationwide block on President Donald Trump's efforts to end birthright citizenship, reiterating her position that the executive order is likely to be found unconstitutional.
The ruling from U.S. District Judge Deborah L. Boardman came after she agreed to a petition from CASA, an immigrant rights group, to certify a class action lawsuit on behalf of U.S.-born children who would be denied automatic citizenship under Trump's directive.
