Deendayal Port Authority unloads 79,780 tonnes of coal in 24 hours
The Deendayal Port Authority (DPA) of Kandla set a new record by unloading 79,780 tonnes of steam coal from MV KMAX RULER in just 24 hours. In a post on social media platform X, the DPA said that the record-breaking operation was carried out with the coordinated efforts of vessel agent M/s Genesis Shipping , stevedore M/s Shiv Shipping Services, and importer M/s Gallant Metals. "Record Reloaded at DPA! In a stellar feat of efficiency, MV KMAX RULER unloaded 79,780 tons of Steam Coal in just 24 hours at Deendayal Port, Kandla -- setting a new benchmark!," the X post of Deendayal Port Authority added. According to its website, it is the largest port in India in terms of the volume of cargo handled. Deendayal Port Authority, India's busiest major port in recent years, is gearing up to add substantial cargo handling capacity with private sector participation . The Union Government is actively working to enhance the capacity of the port. Earlier in the month, Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for several transformational projects of DPA, worth over Rs 1,100 crore. (ANI)

Addressing a public meeting at Mahatma Mandir Convention Centre in Gandhinagar on Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had called upon people to use only locally made products. He also pointed out that products for certain Indian festivals are being imported from abroad. Without making any direct reference to any country, he said, 'Look at the misfortune, even (idols of) Ganeshji come from abroad' Audience at Bhuj event Among people who attended PM Narendra Modi's event in Bhuj on Monday were over 2,600 workers and their families who were mobilised from the Deendayal Port, Kandla — nearly 75 km from the venue. 'This is the first time port workers voluntarily attended an event of the Prime Minister in such a large scale,' Deendayal Port Authority (DPA) spokesperson Om Prakash Dadlani told this paper. Not only the workers — who were ferried in nearly 50 state transport buses and private vehicles — but also over 300 ministerial staff attended the event where PM Modi inaugurated and laid foundation stone for projects worth over Rs 1,100 crore of the DPA. Workers were happy to hear the PM mention about the Kandla port in his speech, DPA authorities said.
