Butterfly house home to 55 species reopens after Covid closure
A popular butterfly house home to 55 species has reopened after a five-year closure.
The dedicated area at New Forest Wildlife Park has officially welcomed visitors back inside after what was thought to be a permanent conclusion to its tenure.
Rising costs paired with Covid-19 pandemic and efforts to reduce the park's carbon footprint is what prompted the butterfly house in Deerleap Lane to shut its doors.
The exciting return was announced by the wildlife park on social media on Friday.
A spokesperson said: 'Now, in 2025 we are very excited to announce the reopening of our Butterfly House five years after what we believed would be a permanent closure.
'In its new aim to be a green space, the Butterfly House will eventually champion UK native species.
'The UK is home to 55 species of butterflies, many of which are in serious decline."

They added: 'The new approach allows us to focus on conservation and education, highlighting these incredible insects and the threats they face.
'We hope to inspire our visitors with ideas for how they can help create butterfly-friendly habitats in their own gardens.
'While we won't have the same year-round abundance of tropical butterflies as before, we hope our visitors will enjoy the tranquillity of the green space.'
