Tributes pour in from drama productions after actor Song Young-kyu dies
SOUTH Korean actor Song Young-kyu has died at the age of 55, prompting official statements from two dramas he was recently involved in. The production team behind The Winning Try said in a statement, "We express our deepest condolences over the heartbreaking news and sincerely wish the deceased peace. We also extend our heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved family." They added that the drama was pre-produced, with most episodes already delivered to streaming platforms. Only minimal editing will be done to later episodes. The Defects team also shared a statement: "We express our condolences on the tragic news of the late Song Young-kyu and pray for his peaceful rest. The Defects has already been fully edited and will air without additional modifications." Song, known for his versatility and strong screen presence, appeared in many dramas and films over the years, including Voice and My Golden Life.

Song Young Kyu, a South Korean actor who appeared in several K-dramas, including the ongoing SBS drama "The Winning Try," unexpectedly passed away on Monday, August 4, at the age of 52. The Defects actor was found dead inside a car at around 8:00 am KST, according to the officials. The vehicle was parked in a residential complex in Yongin of Gyeonggi province, where an acquaintance discovered the deceased, the Yongin Dongbu Police Station in Gyeonggi province confirmed. The person immediately reported it to authorities, who confirmed that there is no sign of foul play. The police stated that no note was found at the scene, and an investigation is going on to find out the exact cause of his death. The officials will question his family members to investigate the recent events and will consider the need to conduct an autopsy. Young Kyu's funeral service will take place in Room 1 of the Davos Hospital funeral home in Cheoin District, Yongin, Gyeonggi Province, on Wednesday, August 6, at 8:00 am KST. His mortal remains will reportedly rest at the Hambeoksan Memorial Park. The actor was survived by his wife and two daughters. Birmingham: Final line-up for BBC Black Sabbath celebration
The final line-up has been announced for a special BBC celebration of seminal heavy metal band Black Sabbath. BBC Radio WM celebration Metal in the Midlands will take place at Birmingham Town Hall on 2 July, ahead of the legendary band's final gig on 5 July at Villa Park, another home town venue. Hard rock act Defects will headline the Town Hall show, featuring alongside Black Parade and Download DJ Em Masters, with a Flatpack Festival short film compilation also part of the Cherrydead, Gans and Meatdripper were previously revealed. Harry Jennings, drummer for Defects, also a Birmingham act, said: "We are beyond excited to be one of the bands representing metal in the Midlands for the BBC on this iconic week."He added: "The Town Hall holds a lot of memories for family members of the band, and it's a real honour to perform."Birmingham will welcome up to 41,000 heavy metal fans as the original Black Sabbath line-up comes together for the first time in 20 years on 5 July. Ozzy Osbourne, Bill Ward, Tony Iommi and Geezer Butler will reunite live on stage for an historic final show, Back to the Birmingham Town Hall event will be hosted by Black Country-born comedian and BBC Radio 4 and BBC Radio WM presenter Darren Harriott, a metal short film compilation will explore metal's international reach.
