A proud moment in India's strategic innovation

Hyderabad: The Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) achieved a milestone by conducting two consecutive successful flight-tests of the indigenously developed Pralay missile from Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Island off the Odisha coast on July 28 and 29, 2025. These flight trials were part of User Evaluation Trials aimed at verifying both the minimum and maximum range capabilities of the tactical missile system. The DRDO said here on Tuesday that both missiles followed their intended trajectories with pinpoint accuracy and met all mission objectives. The missile systems' subsystems functioned flawlessly, confirmed by the extensive data recorded by various tracking sensors deployed by the Integrated Test Range (ITR), including ship-based instruments located near the impact zone. Pralay is a solid propellant, quasi-ballistic missile featuring advanced guidance and navigation technologies that enable high-precision targeting. It is designed to carry various types of warheads and neutralise multiple target categories. The missile system was developed by the Research Centre Imarat, in collaboration with various other laboratories of DRDO, including the Defence Research & Development Laboratory, the Advanced Systems Laboratory, and the Armament Research & Development partners Bharat Dynamics Limited and Bharat Electronics Limited also played key roles, along with support from several MSMEs. The tests were witnessed by senior DRDO scientists, representatives from the Indian Air Force and Indian Army, and industry delegates. Defence Minister Shri Rajnath Singh commended DRDO, the Armed Forces, and industry collaborators for the accomplishment, stating that the missile—equipped with cutting-edge technologies—will significantly enhance the Armed Forces' operational readiness against emerging threats. Dr Samir V Kamat, Secretary of Defence R&D and Chairman of DRDO, extended his congratulations to all contributing teams. He affirmed that the successful completion of this phase of flight tests marks a crucial step toward the missile system's near-future induction into the country's military arsenal. DRDO successfully conducts two consecutive flight-tests of Pralay missile

New Delhi, July 29 (UNI) Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) conducted two consecutive successful flight-tests of Pralay missile from Dr APJ Abdul Kalam island off the coast of Odisha. The flight tests were carried out on July 28 and 29 as part of the user evaluation trials to validate the missile system's maximum and minimum range capabilities. The missiles precisely followed the intended trajectory and reached the target point with pinpoint accuracy, meeting all the test objectives, a Defence Ministry statement said. All subsystems performed as per expectations, which were verified using test data captured by various tracking sensors deployed by Integrated Test Range (ITR) including instruments deployed on ship positioned near the designated impact point. Pralay is an indigenously developed solid propellant quasi-ballistic missile employing state-of-the-art guidance and navigation to ensure high precision. The missile is capable of carrying multiple types of warheads against various targets. The system has been developed by Research Centre Imarat in collaboration other DRDO labs. The flight-tests were witnessed by senior scientists of DRDO, representatives of the users from the Indian Air Force and the Indian Army as well as the industry representatives. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh while complimenting the DRDO, armed forces and industry said that the missile equipped with modern technologies will give further technological boost to the Armed Forces against threats. Secretary, Department of Defence R&D and chairman DRDO Samir V Kamat congratulated the teams, stating that the successful completion of this phase-1 flight tests paves the way for induction of the system into the armed forces in near future. DRDO tests UAV-launched precision missile with modular warheads, dual-channel seeker

NEW DELHI: The Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) on Friday successfully conducted flight-trials of the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Launched Precision Guided Missile (ULPGM)-V3. The success is seen as a major boost to India's defence capabilities. According to the Ministry of Defence (MoD), the tested missile is an enhanced version of the ULPGM-V2, which had been developed and delivered by DRDO earlier. The present trials were carried out in the anti-armour configuration at the National Open Area Range (NOAR) in Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh. The MoD, in its statement, said, 'The ULPGM-V3 is equipped with a high-definition dual-channel seeker that can strike a wide variety of targets. It can be fired in plain and high-altitude areas. It has day-and-night capability and a two-way data link to support post-launch target/aim-point update.' 'The missile is equipped with three modular warhead options: anti-armour to destroy modern age armoured vehicles equipped with Rolled Homogeneous Armour (RHA) with Explosive Reactive Armour (ERA); penetration-cum-blast warhead with anti-bunker application; and pre-fragmentation warhead with a high lethality zone,' the ministry added.

Indian Navy, DRDO successfully test indigenous multi-influence ground mine

The Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) and the Indian Navy successfully test fired the indigenously designed and developed Multi-Influence Ground Mine (MIGM), Defence Minister's office said on Monday (May 5). The development comes amid escalating tensions between India and Pakistan after the Pahalgam terrorist attack which killed 26 people, mostly tourists. "MIGM is designed to enhance the Indian Navy's capabilities against modern stealth ships and submarines," the Defence Ministry said. "Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has complimented DRDO, Indian Navy and the Industry on this achievement. He said that the system would further enhance undersea warfare capabilities of the Indian Navy," it added. Pakistan conducts missile tests Earlier in the day, the Pakistani military also said that it has tested two surface-to-surface missiles — Fatah and Abdali — over the past two days 'The launch was aimed at ensuring the operational readiness of troops and validating key technical parameters, including the missile's advanced navigation system and enhanced accuracy,' the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of Pakistan Army, said in a statement. Pahalgam attack: India's defence preparedness Last week, the Indian Navy announced that its newest indigenous guided missile destroyer, INS Surat, successfully intercepted a fast, low-altitude missile skimming over the sea. Additionally, on April 27, the Navy conducted multiple successful anti-ship missile firings to reaffirm the operational readiness of its platforms, systems, and personnel for long-range precision strikes. Continuous ceasefire violations by Pakistani troops were also reported for the 11th consecutive day on May 5, to which the Indian Army has responded proportionately, an official statement said. Pahalgam attack: MHA orders civil defence drills Meanwhile, the Ministry of Home Affairs on Monday also directed several states to conduct civil defence drills on May 7. The mock drills will include several measures like air raid warning sirens, civilian and student training on civil defence protocols, implementation of crash blackout measures, early-stage camouflage of vital installations, and rehearsals for evacuation plans in the event of a hostile attack.
