CSO: Producer prices for dairy products jumped 22.0% in year to April
A new report from the Central Statistics Office (CSO) shows producer prices for dairy products increased by 22.0% over the 12 months to April 2025. Overall producer prices for food products increased by 5.1% over the same timeframe, according to the latest statistics. The CSO Wholesale Price Index for April 2025 highlights that in the year to April, prices paid to producers for meat and meat products also increased by 7.3%. However, prices paid to producers for vegetables and animal oils and fats slumped by 16.2%. CSO According to Deirdre Toher, statistician in the CSO prices division, wholesale price inflation showed a decrease in April 2025 with a 1.4% decline in the overall producer price Index for manufacturing industries in the month. Toher added: 'The price index for export sales was down by 1.6% since March 2025, while the index for home sales was down by 0.1% in the month. 'Producer prices for products sold on the domestic market were 0.9% higher in April 2025 compared with April 2024. In the 12 months to April 2025, export producer prices fell by 4.0%, while overall producer prices were down by 3.6%'. The latest CSO report also shows that wholesale electricity prices have fallen by 71.3% when compared with the peak that occurred in August 2022. Wholesale electricity prices dropped by 15.7% in April 2025 when compared with March 2025 but were 25.6% higher than April 2024. The price index for all energy fuels fell by 0.8% in April 2025 and was down by 9.1% in the year since April 2024. Construction products Meanwhile, wholesale prices for construction products grew by 0.2% in the month to April 2025 and rose by 1.0% in the 12 months since April 2024. Wholesale electricity prices more than 50% higher than last year despite recent drop
New figures from the Central Statistics Office (CSO) show that wholesale electricity prices fell by 6.4% last month but were 52% higher than in March last year. According to its latest wholesale price index, domestic producer prices for manufactured goods were on average 1.3% higher in March 2025 compared with a year earlier, while producer prices for exported goods were down by 2.2%. Overall, manufacturing producer prices were 1.9% lower in the year. Producer prices for food products increased by almost 7% in the 12 months to March 2025, while the food products, beverages and tobacco index was up by almost 6%. Some of the most notable changes in producer prices for food products over the 12 months to March 2025 were dairy products, up 22%, other food products, up almost 6%, meat and meat products, up 5.7% and vegetables and animal oils and fats, which fell by more than 16%. The most noteworthy changes in other producer prices in the year to March 2025 were fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment, up 3.5%, furniture, up 3.3% and chemicals and chemical products, down 13.6%, and rubber and plastic products, down 2.7%. Wholesale prices for construction products grew by 0.2% in the month to March 2025 and rose by 1.0% in the 12 months since March 2024.
