Second Love Island star questioned by police after woman complained her phone had been stolen after Kyle Ashman was axed following machete attack
Love Island contestant Dejon Noel-Williams was reportedly questioned by police after a woman complained her phone had been stolen. The semi-pro footballer, 26, was interviewed by the police after a woman's mobile was taken in London. However he was released without any further action. Dejon is the second of this year's lineup to have been questioned by the police, after fellow contestant Kyle Ashman was axed from the upcoming series on Tuesday after he was involved in a machete attack in February. Kyle was one of two arrested by police but he was released with no further action and ITV confirmed he had left the villa citing 'personal reasons'. Meanwhile ITV were aware of the incident with Dejon when he secured his place on the dating show, a spokesman confirmed to The Sun. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new Showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. According to the publication he spoke to the police alongside Kettering FC footballer Harlain Mbayo, who was ordered to carry out a community resolution. The dispute was sparked over payment for food and an Uber taxi ride. Dejon confirmed in a statement to MailOnline: 'Out of respect to the other people involved here, I would prefer not to have to address this, but I have no choice given that the narrative that has been put forward is unfairly damaging and completely inaccurate. 'I was never arrested; I voluntarily spoke to the police to clarify the truth about what happened in this incident, with no further action taken. 'To stress, my intentions here were entirely honourable, and it is very upsetting to read claims that suggest otherwise.' Meanwhile The Met Police said: 'On March 16 at 04:05hrs officers responded to a report of a robbery in which a phone was taken. 'An investigation was launched and two men voluntarily took part in interviews. The victim's phone was recovered and has been returned. 'No further action was taken against the 26-year-old man.' ITV confirmed that they speak to the islanders before the show and carry out rigorous background screening, including DBS checks. On Wednesday Conor Phillips was announced as the new Love Island contestant after it was revealed Kyle had been axed from the show on Tuesday evening after being involved in a machete attack. Following the reports, Kyle confirmed he had no involvement in the incident, but has chosen to leave the ITV show regardless. He told MailOnline: 'I fully cooperated with this police investigation and made it very clear that I had no involvement in this incident. 'I am not a violent person and any suggestion otherwise is a mischaracterisation.' Meanwhile ITV added: 'For personal reasons, Kyle will not be entering the Love Island Villa as planned.' The Sun revealed they alerted bosses on Kyle being questioned in the attack but ITV said they were unaware of the incident and he was not flagged during the contestant checks. The incident on February 28 saw the victim, 38, nearly lose his arm after he was rushed to hospital for emergency treatment and kept it for around two weeks. Another victim was reportedly glassed, one hit with a metal pole, and two people were run over by a car during the 15 minute attack at the The White Eagle Club in Stafford. Sources said the victim was attacked by three balaclava-clad thugs over an alleged £3,000 debt. He was injured by a blade that left him with a deep gash and has suffered tendon damage and is now unable to drive. Police confirmed on Tuesday that after the matter had been investigated Kyle and another individual were released with no further action only last month. A show source told the publication: 'ITV were entirely unaware of Kyle's past and, as he was not charged, it was not flagged as part of Love Island's stringent DBS checks. 'It's only right he can now return home to the UK to share his side of the story and therefore bosses took the decision that it was best for him not to enter the villa.' Love Island returns Monday 9th June at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX

The semi-pro footballer, 26, who is set to star in the new series, was interviewed after a woman's mobile was taken in London. 2 It makes Dejon the second Islander this series to have been quizzed by cops, after The Sun yesterday revealed Kyle Ashman was held over a machete attack.
