West Springfield single-family tax bill below state average

WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Residents in West Springfield are seemingly less burdened by taxes. The Massachusetts Department of Revenue says families in West Springfield are spending about $2,800 less than other families across the state. Locally, West Springfield's tax bill is about $600 below the county average, offering a lower average single family tax bill than other cities such as Agawam, Holyoke, and Westfield. WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The West Springfield Police Department is investigating after over 100 counterfeit bills were found on a portion of Elm Street on Wednesday. Delaney's Market holds grand opening in West Springfield The West Springfield Police Department states that early Wednesday morning, officers were informed about counterfeit $20 bills scattered on Elm Street between Harrison Ave and Garden Street. Approximately 162 bills were recovered, with all having the same serial number, JE62455000B. These bills were identified as being counterfeit due to their noticeable color difference and the weight/feel of the paper compared to real bills. A person has been arrested and charged for trying to use a counterfeit bill at a convenience store nearby. WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – West Springfield gained a new food spot that offers a unique way to dine out on Tuesday. Delaney's Market already has storefronts around western Massachusetts, and now West Springfield residents can grab fresh meals to go right where they live. Central High School girls' basketball team heads to state playoffs Delaney's Market cut the ribbon on their fifth location Tuesday morning. The meals-to-go market offers locally made dinners, soups, and treats that are ready to heat up at home. 22News spoke with the market owner Peter Rosskothen about why he decided to open up on the west side. 'I've been trying so hard for quite a few years, so I'm so excited to finally be here,' Rosskothen said. 'West Springfield is critical to us. We wanted to be a western Mass. company, and being in West Springfield puts us in the middle of the action. It's a big, big deal, very excited.' The ribbon cutting was attended by West Springfield Mayor William Reichelt as well as other prominent local figures. Delaney's Market is also located in Longmeadow, South Hadley, Westfield, and Wilbraham. Delaney's Market has locations in the Longmeadow Shops, South Hadley, Westfield, and Wilbraham.
