BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Two minors were arrested for allegedly robbing two people while meeting them in person to complete an online sale, according to the Delano Police Department. Officers responded to a report of a robbery at around 3:40 p.m. April 21 in the 1300 block of Thomas Way, Delano police said. According to investigators, the two suspects — both minors — met with two victims in person for an in-person sale arranged through Instagram. The meeting was meant for the sale of clothing and accessories. Four people arrested on suspicion of stealing multiple Arvin Public Works trucks: Arvin PD During the meeting, one of the suspects allegedly brandished a firearm and demanded the victims to hand over their property. A physical dispute arose and the suspects reportedly took the items from the victims by force before fleeing the scene, police said. A search warrant was executed in the 600 block of South Lexington Street, police said. Both juvenile suspects were arrested and booked into the Kern County Probation Department's Youth Detention Center. Officials reminded the public to conduct transactions in public places with surveillance cameras, such as the parking lot of the police department. BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Delano police say it took three officers to get control of a combative drunken driving suspect who was involved in a two-vehicle crash that injured a woman. Roberto Rodriguez Zamora allegedly pulled away from officers and told them he wasn't under arrest, grabbing one of them by the hand during the struggle, police say in a court filing. Zamora, 44, was eventually placed in handcuffs and taken to Delano Police Department. He told police he drank one alcoholic beverage. The arrest occurred the evening of April 3 after police were dispatched to the intersection of 6th Avenue and Yahweh Court for a collision involving two cars. Zamora and a woman were contacted. Ex-MMA fighter Cain Velasquez currently held in Kern County prison The woman complained of chest pain and was taken to Kern Medical. The officer who spoke with Zamora noticed he had trouble maintaining his balance and smelled of alcohol, according to the filing. Police say he refused to perform field sobriety tests or provide a breath sample. When told he was under arrest, Zamora argued he wasn't and pulled away, initiating the struggle, according to the filing. A warrant was later obtained to draw his blood for alcohol testing. Salinas' family says they have known Officer Garcia for years. He has been involved with the special needs community of Delano for over 10 years, including partaking in the special needs prom and special needs Olympics. BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET)– The Delano Police Department will be looking for drivers under the influence on St. Patrick's Day, March 17. DPD provided the public with several tips on saying safe. Before heading out for St. Patrick's Day festivities, follow these tips to stay safe: Designate a Sober Driver: Choose someone ahead of time who will stay alcohol-free and make sure everyone gets home safely. Use Ride-Sharing Services or Public Transportation: Apps and transit options are great alternatives to driving if you've been drinking. Look Out for Others: Don't let friends or family members drive impaired. Take their keys and help arrange a safe, sober ride. Stay Alert: Watch for impaired drivers on the road and report them to local law enforcement by calling 911.
